Joan Preece Obituary

Age 86, passed away peacefully, February 14, 2023 with family at her side. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, November 29, 1936, the fourth and last child to Violet and Clifford Doherty. Predeceased by her brothers Jim and Bob and sister Betty. Beloved wife of the late Ernie Preece of 56 years. Although they never had children of thier own, Joan and Ernie enjoyed spoiling many nieces and nephews, plus great-nieces and nephews. Joan lived a full life as a wonderful daughter, wife, aunt, and friend. She worked for 23 years at Valley City Manufacturing in Dundas, Ontario, retiring at the age of 64. Along with her husband Ernie they started the Hamilton Studebaker Chapter and spent many hours at car shows. Joan was known for her entertaining stories which she loved to repeat often, her love of animals, great sense of humor, puzzles and trashy magazines. A rare combination of someone who had a love for life and a firm understanding of what was important. Joan will be fondly remembered by both family and friends. Friends will be received by the family on Friday, February 17th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Turner Family Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas, where Joan's Service will take place on Saturday, February 18th at 10:30 a.m. Private burial will take place. Donations to the Heart & Stoke Foundation or Humane Society are welcome. Please share a memory or condolence for Joan's family at www.turnerfamilyfuneralhome.ca

I first want to send my condolences. I remember when Terry and I came to visit she had a big smile and a huge hug. She loved to hear our stories and she shared hers as well. She will be sorely missed but now she is with Ernie. Love Sue and Terry (up in heaven)

To all of Joan's family, we extend our sincerest, heartfelt condolences. Although we never met Joan in person, Krista introduced us to her through many delightful stories, full of enthusiasm, joy, humour, and kindness. We missed meeting a wonderful person like Joan, but we are happy that her stories will continue into the future by all who knew and loved her.
Rest in peace, Joan.

To Joan's family - my sincere condolences. Thinking about her, l can hear her hearty laugh. She was always concerned about how my kids were doing - she was a gem. It was wonderful to see her just a couple of years ago at the Studebaker plaque parkette.
Rest in peace, Joan.
