We will miss our loving Nana but will always cherish the fond memories, like being the absent minded professor and her Mac and Cheese king, to turning into her things near the end with all the kooky memories in between. Like watching her share food with Charley or the way she would light up when we mentioned Maddie and early memories of shoveling her and grandads driveway and always having hot chocolate after.

Heaven has called home an amazing woman of strength, loyalty, love and devotion. To know my mom, you knew you had a wonderful person in your corner. Her kids and grandkids were her everything. We love and miss you mom, but know you will be with us every step as our guardian angel. We are comforted to know you have you memory back and are looking down on us with a smile on your face and love in your heart.

My sister Joan was a caring, dedicated and loving person. She wanted to help people. Joan chose nursing as a career and worked as a nurse for over 45 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her work ethic inspired me to become a teacher. My beloved sister is resting in peace!

My sincere condolences to the Cowling family during this sad time.
Having been a friend of the family growing up, I always knew Joan to be a loving, caring and compassionate person.
One memory which stands out in my mind is when I saw Joan on her front doorstep in her bridal gown, posing for pictures on her and Ian's wedding day. Joan will be greatly missed.
May God bless all of you with His peace, comfort and strength.

Met Joan in my early teens and very kind and friendly.

Joan once told me she aspired to be a Nurse.

So kind and caring towards others during her Nursing career but also to her two younger brothers, John and Donald (Donnie).

John and Donnie always spoke so highly of Joan and they were so proud to have a sister and someone who they could turn to for guidance.

You will be missed

Joan touched the lives of those who knew her with her compassion for others, her joy for life and her witty sense of humor. Joan enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family and friends. Those who knew Joan knew her grandchildren were the light of her life. Even as she battled Alzheimer's she would look at her grandchildren and proudly say "Those are my things''.

As we say goodbye to a wife, mother, sister, Nana, aunt, godmother and friend let it not be with tears or a heavy heart but with peace and comfort knowing you now have a loving and fierce guardian angel to guide and protect you.
