Joanne Doucette Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a deeply loved mother, wife, friend, and sister. Joanne, affectionately called Joanna by her loving husband, Tim, was so very proud of her daughter, Jacqueline, and son, Matthew - both were Joanne's world, as she was theirs. Joanne will also be dearly missed by her four siblings, Adrienne, Marie, David and Mike, who hold a lifetime of shared memories of their beautiful little sister.

Joanne had a long career in nursing, graduating with her Degree in Nursing from McMaster. She became a Masters prepared Neonatal Nurse Practitioner working in Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Women's College in Toronto and McMaster's Children's Hospital and was a Clinical Professor at McMaster School of Nursing. Joanne worked in a Managerial role at Joseph Brant Hospital for a time. She later transitioned to paediatrics in the Children's Pain Management Program at McMaster Children's Hospital.

Her quiet authority, reassuring manner, and gentle approach were appreciated and admired by peers, patients and their families.

To her many friends and colleagues: We share your grief. Know that she valued and appreciated your friendship and support. Joanne's loving presence will remain with all of us for days to come.

This loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, nurse, and friend will be missed by so many. We should aspire to share the love and strength that she inspired in all of us. A celebration of Joanne's life will be held on Sunday January 8th at 2PM at Grace United Church, 2111 Walkers Line, Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, donations to www.canadahelps.org for "Wellwood Cancer Support in Hamilton" would be appreciated. As she was an avid gardener, when winter leaves us and spring arrives, you might also consider planting some flowers in her memory. Online condolences and notes of sympathy may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca

My deepest condolences. We shared so many of our teen years together and as life often does our roads were different. To all the camping trips with your family and rappi pie dinners and the memories of our youth, I know you continued to touch everyone´s life with love and caring compassion. Thank you for being there for my family and for so many amazing memories

Hey cousin , as always , last to hear this...
I was told today, been thinking all day about us as kids, the things we did and the songs we sang together. I wanted to thank you for what you said to me in the car last time we were together, it truly meant a lot to me. Thank you.
Donald Doucette.

You are not gone, just away....see you soon.

Joanne was a beautiful warm person who I was privileged to know in childhood and grateful to reconnect with in recent years. I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing.
Joanne´s deep love for her family was evident in every contact we had. My deepest condolences to you all. Joanne and I shared many interests including a love of gardening. I will be sure to plant something beautiful for her in the spring.

Joanne was my oldest and dearest friend of 52 years.
She will always be a part of my heart.
Joanne was the kindest, sweetest person I have ever known .
I could always count on her calm and rational nature. She was my " go to "
friend no matter what. She was always there with a listening ear and a loving heart. She was truly a beautiful soul and i will miss her terribly.
My deepest condolences to Tim , Jacquelyn, Matthew and her sisters and brothers.
Rest in peace my forever friend.
