Joanne MacDONALD Obituary

December 28, 1931 - Sight Point, Inverness County, NS
October 11, 2022 - Hamilton, ON
Passed away peacefully and now reunited with her beloved husband and our dear father Angus John (2010). Cherished and devoted mother to Barry, Karen, and Craig. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Agatha (nee MacLennan) Rankin. Daughter-in-law to the late Hector and Mary Kate (nee MacEachern) MacDonald. Predeceased by her beloved siblings Joe (late Alice) Rankin, Sister Florence Rankin, Peter (late Pat) Rankin, John Rankin, Peggy (late John) Chisholm, Chris (late Archie) MacMaster, and Wilma (Ben) MacIsaac. She was a loved sister-in-law to the late Charlotte and Roddie Steele, late Mary and Alex MacNeil, late Marguerite (Robert) Mazzocca, late Alexander and Emmy MacDonald, late Floyd (Gerri) MacDonald, and the late Fidelle MacDonald. Survived by her dear sister Jessie (late Alex) MacIsaac and her dear brothers Steve (Carole) Rankin and Lawrence (Brenda) Rankin. Joanne was the proud aunt of many nephews and nieces and grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Mom was a great cook and baker, she liked reading the newspapers, listening to the radio, watching the news and sports and had a very well-developed sense of humour. When time allowed, Mom would talk to service people in malls, grocery stores, and restaurants and engage them in light banter, enquiring of their day and genuinely wishing them well. As Dad and Mom reached advanced age, the many acts of love and kindnesses shown to them from extended family, friends, and neighbours will always be remembered. A kind woman and sweet soul has passed on. We would like to extend thanks to Dr. O. Ayibiowu, his nurses and staff, Aberdeen Gardens Retirement Residence transitional care support, Juravinski Hospital E4 support; finally, Chartwell Willowgrove LTC Residence Ancaster, we are forever grateful for the dedication and outstanding compassionate care you have given Joanna these last three years during such extraordinary times, our heartfelt thank you to you all. A private family funeral mass and interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery will be taking place. If desired, donations to the Charity of Your Choice would be gratefully appreciated by the family.

Joanne was a loving, very kind and generous aunt who would not let you leave her home until she had loaded a delicious goody bag for you to take home. Always thoughtful, with a quick wit, she was also a loving friend and neighbour. She was a darling aunt and I will miss her very much! Lorraine
