Joaquim CAETANO

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Joaquim Abilio Rosa Caetano, at the age of 88, of Hamilton, Ontario. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on March 17, 2022. Beloved husband of Cecilia Domingos Caetano for 55 years. Cherished father to Otto (Elisabeth), Lucy (Michael), and loving Vovô to Cristian, Claudia, Leanna, and Deana. Joaquim was also known to his friends as Jack, Quim, Abilio and to his family he was Vovô and Fofinho, Pai, Papà. He was born in São Romão, Portugal to parents Manuel Joaquim Caetano and Custodia Das Dores Da Çonceicão. He will be greatly missed by his extended family in Portugal, France, and Argentina. In 1966 Joaquim immigrated to Canada, where he and his wife built a new life together. He was a hardworking welder at Hammant Carr, and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and hunting. He loved his family and enjoyed having them by his side. He has many wonderful memories of being involved in the Portuguese community where he developed many valuable friendships that lasted a lifetime. Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL on Monday, March 21st, from 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at St. Mary's Parish, Hamilton. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place, and his ashes will be laid to rest in his home country of Portugal. Special thanks to all the amazing and caring staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, especially the staff of the Medical Step-Down Unit. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
