A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Hamilton General Hospital for all their efforts and support.
As per Joel and the family's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Friday, April 1st, from 4:30 pm - 9:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to the City Kidz would be appreciated.

My deepest sympathies to Joanne, Eric and the rest of Joel's family.
I remember growing up and visiting Pops and my grandfather and great uncles at the store and seeing Joel there. He was always had a story or two, a joke and a great big smile on his face.
As the years went by and he took ownership of Kenesky's Joel was still Joel. We loved visiting with him and he always made my sister and I feel very welcome.
RIP Joel, you will be missed.

Joel's smile, generosity, willingness to listen, are a few traits that come to mind when reflecting on our friendship. Upon hearing the news, I recall the words from Jamie Anderson; a reminder of how difficult it can be to lose someone, with words that help put it into perspective.
"Grief, I´ve learned, is really just love. It´s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go."
My heart goes out to Joanne, Jenna, and Eric and all that loved Joel. He will be greatly missed...
