John Plaice Obituary

March 12, 1940 - January 6, 2021 At the age of 80, peacefully with his family by his side, Jack passed away on January 6, 2021. Lovingly remembered by his wife Joan of 57 years. Daughter Sue (Dave), grandchildren, Karley, Madison, Alex, Jacob and Elizabeth. Missed by his brother Bob (Elpset). Predeceased by his son Steve and brother Doug. Jack was a loving husband, father and devoted grandfather. His family meant the world to him and he would do anything for them. He spent time at cold arenas, rowing regattas, track meets, baseball diamonds, school plays and concerts. Basically, anywhere his grandchildren were! He was their biggest fan. He was a proud father to Sue and Steve, encouraging, guiding and supportive in all their endeavors. He enjoyed traveling with the love of his life, Joan, they cruised and went on road trips to many beautiful places. He was a true friend to many. He loved sailing, golfing and curling. His boat was his floating cottage and numerous hours were spent with all the boating friends sharing laughs and creating life memories. His Wednesday night sailing with the boys was a highlight. He was a proud employee of Stelco for 39 years. Jack will be missed but for those fortunate enough to have him in their lives he will never be forgotten. His smile lit up the room, his laugh contagious and his kindness and matter of fact opinions cherished and respected. He could be counted on to help fix anything and always lend a helping hand when needed. When he entered long term care, he warmed the hearts of the staff at St. Peters at Chedoke and all knew Jack as he kept them on their toes! A graveside service and celebration of Jacks life will occur at a later date. The family would like to thank all their family, friends and staff at St. Peters at Chedoke for all the love and support in his final days. In lieu of flowers donations to Ronald McDonald House and Alzheimer's Society of Hamilton/Halton. Online condolences can be made at www.cresmountfennellchapel.com

I have wonderful childhood memories growing up on Wexford with Jack. We have, unfortunately, lost touch over the years. Joan, I am sorry for your loss. Bob Davidson

We remember Jack as a kind man with a good sense of humour. Many happy memories of times together, especially those at Valley Park Senior’s Swimming Group, good-bye Jack.
