John Richardson Obituary

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our father, John Francis Richardson, in his 102nd year, at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario on January 28, 2022.
Predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Shirley. Loved father of Patricia (Richard), Douglas (Georgina), Robert (Judy), and Kenneth (Cindy). Predeceased by his sisters Beth, Joan, and Norah, and his brother Hessel. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren,
great grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews.
John was born in Yorkshire, England, and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1929, settling and farming in the Carluke/Ancaster area. He served in the RCAF in World War 2, taking part in the Battle of Normandy in June 1944. Upon return from overseas, he continued in the farming/livestock business in the Ancaster area, marrying Shirley Jean Moffat in 1946. In 1959 he moved his family and business to northern Ontario (Matheson), where he also pursued a great interest in hunting and fishing.
John retired from farming in 1980, and for the past 10 years he has resided at Williams Place Retirement Residence in Lindsay. Cremation has taken place. Interment to follow in Matheson in summer 2022.

My favourite memory of Grandfa is from the summer I was up north planting trees...we bonded over ABBA's greatest hits and afternoon 'discussions' about whatever was on Oprah that day. He will be missed.

I have such fond memories of Uncle John, telling stories, serving as the life of any party, introducing us to the wonders of farming, and teasing the daylights out of us at every opportunity. The Richardson clan will all miss him dearly, and my heart is with my cousins as you transition through this difficult time.

Uncle John was the BEST dancer in the family! At weddings and celebrations, everyone wanted to dance with him. I have many memories of wonderful family reunions, laughter and playing games when Uncle John was involved.

While reminiscing about Uncle John, I was reminded of the energy he brought into a space and the joy that others felt even long after he left. I am thankful for this gift.

Love,
Sandra

We are so sorry to hear of Uncle John´s passing. Our thoughts are that Uncle John and siblings and partners are together and playing a rousing game of Scally!!!! I can hear the ruckus from here. Thoughts are with you all at this time. Love, Dave and Shelley
