Joseph Patrick LYONS
Henry Walser Funeral Home
507 Frederick Street
Kitchener, ON
December 18, 1961-January 11, 2022.

Passed away peacefully after a long battle with kidney disease and cancer, which he fought with unending grace, humour and courage. Joe was loyal, kind and interested in all. His indomitable will to carry on in spite of his illness is an inspiration to us all. He was the bright light in the family. The world will be a little darker now. Joe grew up on Melbourne St. in Hamilton surrounded by a large family and the "who's who" of the Irish community. It is here that Joe mastered the art of keeping up with "The News" and telling a good story. Loving and proud father of Ruby, the light of his life. Dear brother of Ann Cole, John(Mary King), Vincent(Ariel), Sheila(John Williamson) and Joan. Brother-in-law of Jill Lyons. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews, and a cousin to many in Canada, Ireland and around the world. Fondly remembered by Ruby's mother and grandparents, Tricia, Shirley and Greg Mumby. Predeceased by his sister, Mary, brother, Desmond, brother-in-law, Ted Cole and parents, James and Christina Lyons. A special thanks to Joe's nephew and good friend, Dave Cole, and Joe's life-long friend, Mike Stewart, who have both shared lots of laughter with Joe over countless years and, especially, in the last few months. Joe's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at The Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. Those wishing to attend Joe's visitation must RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling 519-749-8467. At Joe's request, when both COVID restrictions are lifted and better weather is with us, a party will be held to celebrate his life. Details to follow closer to the time of the celebration.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for your donation to Hospice Wellington, Grand River Hospital Foundation or The Kidney Foundation of Canada - Ontario Branch in Joe's name.

We are very sorry to hear of dear Joe´s passing. He was a dear friend who kept me laughing and current on everything Ireland from our days at St. Marys, McMaster and beyond. Joe was a true Irish-Canadian gentleman and will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
