Kaila BAWDEN Obituary

Despite her insatiable love of life and her valiant battle with cancer, our darling daughter Kaila, at the young age of 26, finally succumbed on January 5, 2021, at 6:30 a.m., surrounded by her loving family. Loving daughter of George and Danielle, devoted mother to five year old Dante, and proud older sister to Michelle, Marysia, Zofia and Gwyneth. Beloved granddaughter of Michael and Mary McConnell, and the late George and Doreen Bawden. Beloved niece of Helene, Leanne, Shawn, Kathy, Karen and Greg, and her godfather Chris. Forever loved by her countless cousins, great-aunts and uncles. Kaila had a kind, generous, beautiful soul that loved to make people laugh and feel comfortable. Always striving for what she considered best and willing to put herself second to others. She was a talented musician who played piano and violin, and sang from an early age. Kaila spent many years involved with The Hamilton Children's Choir and lately with the choir of MacNab Street Presbyterian Church. Kaila's son, Dante, and her sisters were always paramount in her mind. She enjoyed family immensely and loved nothing more than playing boardgames with her sisters and her father. To her very last breath, she displayed bravery, courage and determination overcoming every setback to the best of her ability. We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and support staff at Juravinski Hospital, as well as her oncology team at JCC who cared deeply for Kaila & treated her so well; also the greeters and staff of Nora's cafeteria at the hospital who were so kind to us. We would also like to acknowledge and thank the many people who have helped us these many months. A cremation has taken place. A funeral will be held at a later date. If you are so inclined to make a donation in Kaila's honour, please consider the following: Kaila's son Dante through etransfer at [email protected], Cancer Assistance Program (CAP), Juravinski Cancer Centre, or MacNab Street Presbyterian Church. We are devastated to learn of the passing of Kaila Bawden, Hamilton Children's Choir alumna (2007-2010). Kaila was a beautiful human being and fantastic singer. She joined us on tours to Poland and Sweden, and many will remember Kaila from her solo performance of "Gesu Bambino" with Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. She was an important part of our community as a singer, leader, and alumni.
Kaila will be deeply missed.

I have many fond memories of singing with Kaila in the Hamilton Children's Choir. She had a beautiful singing voice and an awesome sense of humor. I admired the relationships she had with her younger sisters. It was always so clear that she cared about her family so very much. My thoughts and prayers are with them. Thank you Kaila for blessing the world with your music, your kindness, and your laughter.

Rest In Peace Kaila. Love you girl. you can be there in person with me when I graduate but I know you’ll be there in spirit. I’ll carry this photo across the stage with me. It’s my favourite I took of you. Miss you terribly but I know you’re at peace until we meet again.

We did not know each other well, but I had the wonderful opportunity to sing beside Kaila at MacNab. In choir, we often watched Dante's eyes light up while he ran onto the stage to hug his mom, with smiles on our faces. Her spirited personality was infectious. She will be missed by many.

Aunt Danielle, uncle George, Michelle Marysia, Gwyneth, Zofia i am so unbelievably sorry. The loss of Kaila is devastating and no one should have to go through the hurt you are all feeling after losing someone you love so young. She was and always will be a fighter with a smile that could light up any room and a voice that was just too good for words. I love you all and am sending hugs, stay strong as she wouldn’t want anything less ❤

Too Young... Too Soon. A light has gone out that has left the world darker for all of us. Kaila was a beautiful person who brightened any situation with her joy. My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to Dante and her family during this heartbreaking time. It's such a tragedy to lose someone like you. You brought me a smile each and every time we saw each other. You were such an endearing person you will be deeply missed by all of us. Your child will know his mother was a special woman who loved life and fought hard to stay with us, but alas she can only watch and guide us in spirit now. I was honoured to have met you. Good bye my sweet friend.
