Kathleen MANDULA Obituary

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Kathy, (Mom, Grammy), AKA Butch to her family, of Ennismore, in her 81st year. Beloved wife of the late Walter Mandula (2021), loving mother of Bill (Lisa) and Julie (Randy). Adoring Grandmother to Stacey, Corey, Taylor (Ryan) and Brady. Predeceased by parents William and Helen Poole, brothers Philip, Earl, Ray, Jim, Gerald John and sister Mary. Survived by sisters Rose, Lillian, Jeanette, Margaret, Donna and Linda. Brothers Bill, Tom and Pat. Kathy was born in Drayton, North Dakota and moved to Canada at the age of 17 after marrying Walt in 1959 in Warroad, Minnesota. Although coming from humble beginnings, they built a very successful life together through hard work, modesty and honesty. She loved her children and grandchildren. Family was everything to her. Visits to and from her brothers and sisters were always cherished. Like her mother, she loved playing cards with her family, not connected to technology, but connected to her family. As owners of Theona Park Resort for 36 years, she enjoyed all the people she met there, and the close friends she made. Unfortunately, her time to travel and visit family and friends was cut short, but each trip and visit she did make was something she valued forever. She loved to bake, and her Danish pastry, donuts, cinnamon buns, Easter cheese and Christmas cookies will be missed by all who had the pleasure of sampling them. Always healthy and active, she seemed years younger than her age. It was heartbreaking to see her health fail. Her love for family, work ethic, honesty and appreciation for the simple things in life will never be forgotten. We appreciate, beyond words, the care mom received at PRHC and TGH Munk Cardiac Unit. Special thanks to the nurses at PRHC and especially Dr. Wu. Deepest appreciation for all the nurses at Toronto General CVICU, Dr. Wokavich and especially Dr. Badiwala for giving her a fighting chance. Thank you to everyone who tried so hard to help mom. Please join us for a visitation at Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough on Wednesday, September 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Martin's Roman Catholic Church, 513 Ennis Rd, Ennismore on Thursday, September 22 at 11:00 a.m. In memory of Kathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.comstockkaye.com for the Mandula family.

Kathy played a very important role in my early and formative years. As Maya Angelou states, people will never forget how they made you feel. I will always remember how special and loved Kathy made me feel every time I was in her care. I will always be so thankful.

My thoughts and love to Kathy`s family during this time.

We have so many great memories of fun times together. Knowing your family for almost 50 years has been an honour and a privilege. Your Mom was like the sister I never had, and yes we will miss her wonderful danish and Christmas cookies. Be at peace Kathy.
