It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the age of 78 years. Predeceased by his loving wife Sharon (nee Woods) in 2017. Beloved father of Kerri Dietz-Lawrence (Jay) and stepfather of Ron Parkin (Angel), Tom Parkin, Dwayne Parkin (Lisa), and Todd Parkin (Bobbi). Cherished grandfather of Marley, Quinn, Brett, Blayne, Marelle, Kaylee, Nathan, Kendra, Carley, Tyler, Tristan, Mackenzie, and Griffin. Predeceased by his grandson Gavin. Great-grandfather to Hayden and Kinlee. Larry was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, where he spent the entirety of his career at National Steel Car with over 50 plus years of dedicated service. A heartfelt thank you to National Steel Car, who was like a second family to Larry. Larry loved life and lived it well, making great friendships along the way. One of his favourite pastimes was entertaining friends and family in his backyard. He was also an avid NASCAR and Hamilton Tiger-Cats fan, and you always knew where to find Larry when either of these events was taking place. His kids and grandkids especially knew to stay away when the Hamilton Tiger-Cats were playing. Larry will be dearly missed by his many friends and extended family. As per Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Larry's life will be held at the STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY, (905-945-2755), on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory to Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
