Lorraine

Larry had a sharp, incisive intelligence and a wide-ranging curiosity. He had a compassion for animals. I remember the story of the squirrel which was accidentally locked into the cabin over the Winter, and how it raced to the lake, and drank and drank, when it was released in the Spring.
Larry could also be strict and stern, if he felt that you were heading down a wrong path.
A good man.
He is missed.

I really appreciated Larry's dedication to Sharon during her extended illness, and his openness to helping individuals who were homeless or struggling through his volunteer contributions at 6 St Joseph House; and how he invited everyone for dinner in the Manulife Centre as a way to foster community. May he rest in peace.

Larry was a visionary, passionate, humble, wise, and warm family man, businessman and philanthropist. I was honoured to know him as a supporter of HIRSCH at Stratford, which he was attracted to for all sorts of personal and artistic reasons, including Sharon's inspiring connection to John Hirsch. He sat in on some rehearsals and always had the most insightful and encouraging comments. He was an early fan of "Charlotte", which was developed with constant advice from him over about six years. Larry had wide perspective, and I remember how he would analyse a problem with laser sharp accuracy and offer the most honourable solution. He gave tough love in the form of frank appraisals of my theatre work. We had many other overlaps, from Nash Pants and the garment industry, to long-standing relationships with my father and Uncle Saul, to a fascination with None Is Too Many, to Winnipeg and Hamilton, and dear friends Jane and Justin. I sat in awe at Holy Blossom Temple when he gathered luminaries, such as Prime Minister Trudeau, with families affected by his father Max Enkin's Tailor Project, generations of survivors who owed their existence to Max and those who helped rescue them. That project, and a lot of great theatre work, are just some of the legacies he leaves behind. Larry will be dearly missed.
