Lena BARON Obituary

Passed away peacefully and naturally, on Monday, April 13, 2020 at her Stoney Creek residence at the wonderful age of 98. Now re-united with her long adoring husband Joseph Baron. Born and raised in Insinger, Saskatchewan, the first child to Alex and Mary Shichowy, along with her siblings Sylvester, Eleanor and Henry (deceased). Aunt Lena and Uncle Joe will long be remembered and admired by their many cousins and the nieces and nephews of the Mizzan, Shichowy and Tekatch families. Long time resident of the Stoney Creek/Hamilton area, Lena was a supportive member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral. After owning and operating the Kitchener Motel, Lena and Joe were able to share their passion for travel and photography for many years. Much gratitude to the Clarion/Lakeview Homes for their brave support during these complicated times. Cremation completed, a future gathering of family and friends to be arranged.

Condolences to all of Lena's family....we were saddened to hear of Lena's peaceful passing but find comfort knowing she is at peace after a long life.
We have many fond memories of cousin Lena, her trips to Saskatchewan with Joe to see family and friends, exchanging stories past and present, cooking skill, times of past hardships, her travel experiences and so much more.
More recent, we truly had some wonderful visits at her Hamilton condo where she was so fully hospitable and welcomed us so warmly and again, exchanging stories present and past. Her manner was always so pleasant and we will always remember her.
Our sincere sympathy

Aunty Lena was a very special person in my life. I called her Aunty but she was actually my cousin, our mothers were sisters.
However, what I liked best was when we were together and someone would ask if I was her daughter she proudly would tell them no but I was her God Daughter.
When I was getting married, it was necessary to pick a date before Joe made his annual Western trip because Lena HAD to be at my wedding.
When my parents died in 1978, she filled the void that I so dearly missed. She was that special person that I could talk with, even if it was only to get some cooking advice.
I was grateful to have her in my life. I am sorry for myself that I can no longer visit with her but I can accept that she is now in peace and Doug will give her a big hug for me.
Lovingly Elaine
