1932 - 2023

Lois died peacefully on January 14 at home after a long battle with heart and respiratory disease. She joins her late husband of 55 years Gordon Fanson, daughter Janet, son Gordon, son-in-law Ron, and brother Jack. Survived by four other daughters, Shirley McMorran, Patti Fanson, Barbara Fanson (and John Van Kampen), Sandra Kovacs (and Steve Kovacs), and her sisters Alice and Phyllis, and sister-in-law Keiko. She was a caring mother to six children, six grandchildren: Steve, Jennifer, Angela, Matthew, Rachelle, and Kristen; and four great-grandchildren: Sydny, Tyler, Ethan, and Emma. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, WeightWatchers, volunteering with Poultry Fest and Smithville United Church, and she fostered several children. Her life will be celebrated with a visitation on Wednesday, January 18 at 10 a.m. at Smithville United Church, 116 West St. in Smithville, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the church. Lois was such a friendly person. When I attended Smithville church and didn't know anyone, she so kindly introduced herself and welcomed me. My condolences to her family.
