Lyn BOYCE Obituary

With sadness and a broken heart, Beverly Moore announces the passing of her beloved partner of 27 years on Saturday, September 10, 2022. Lyn is loved so much by her sister Diane Hoy, her nieces Yvonne and Chearl and nephew Arron, as well as many great nieces and nephews who all reside in Belfast, Ireland. Lyn was cherished by her in-laws Anne and Al Moore and sister-in-law Susan Moore, both of Barrie, Ontario. She will be greatly missed by her aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of the pond. Lyn touched many lives through her years as a Hamilton Public Library Bookmobile Driver. She was also a dedicated advocate for animals. Lyn's friends and family can attest to her brilliant sense of humor and story-telling abilities. Lyn had a wonderful gift of warmth and generosity that she shared. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 6th from 4-7 p.m. at Marquis Gardens, 1365 Sandhill Drive, Ancaster. Donations can be made in Lyn's name to the Hamilton SPCA.
The world has lost a source of joy and kindness with her passing.

I was thinking of Lyn today. We met when I was just a very young kid on the bookmobile. My family owned the laundromat in a strip mall where the bus parked on the Hamilton mountain. I grew up with a ferocious love of books because of Lyn. Lyn always treated me with respect and genuine interest. She asked me what I was reading and make suggestions. She was a very early supporter of comics as books and would always tell me that reading anything counts; be it a magazine or a 300 page novel. I´m not an overly religious person but I´ve been finding dimes all over the place lately. That´s supposed to be a sign from a "guardian angel". I (thankfully) don´t know too many people who have passed and I like to think Lyn is saying "hi!" I see her smiling face sitting at the far end of the bookmobile smiling. I´m so glad I was able to see her again after many years at her retirement party. I told her how important she was to my love of reading, literature, and learning.

Dear Bev and family,

"The angels are always near to those who are grieving, to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hand of God."
- Eileen Elias Freeman

So sad to hear my friend Lyn passed away. I have so many wonderful memories of Lyn working together at the Barton and Central Libraries. Every day was fun at the library when you were in her presence. We laughed, cried and had fun joking around together. My family also got to meet Lyn and loved her smile, her kindness and all things family.
We also took a weekend trip together by train with two other colleagues and it´s a weekend to remember. Never laughed so hard in my life and I can still see Lyn with laugh until she cried.
May the Lord wrap his loving g arms around Lyn as he welcomed her in his paradise but also give you all comfort in the days, weeks and months ahead.
Your HPL friend, Ernesta Fritz

Lyn made me my first library card when I was five years old. I always looked forward to going to visiting the Bookmobile because of how friendly Lyn was, I remember being so excited after checking out books because I knew she would stamp my head. She brought so much joy to so many and will be greatly missed.

I met Lyn when she had just arrived from Ireland and was working at Red Hill Library as a clerk. She was always outgoing & fun. I was one of the part-time pages. Lyn loved to tease us in various ways. Her preferred method was to go into the staff room and make 'heavy breathing' calls to the students covering the front desk. There was never a dull moment around Lyn. Later, I was able to introduce Lyn to my children at the Rosedale bookmobile stop. She remembered their interests and talked to them about them.
Lyn will always be a part of my wonderful memories of my time with HPL. She will be missed by all who knew her.

I got to know Lyn on a Facebook page we were both members of and she invited friendship and I was so glad I did. Lyn was passionate about what she believed in which was refreshing, but Lyn also had a turn of phrase which was quirky and refreshing at the same time in always getting to the point of any matter. I never met Lyn in person, but I will miss her kind soul. Rest well.

I knew Lyn thanks to her love of the UK soap Crossroads, and particular its leading lady Noele Gordon. She was a passionate supporter of both and a regular in its social community.

Personally, when my gran died in 2012 and then my mother in 2016 Lyn was the first to message with words of sympathy and support.

We will all miss her at Crossroads. RIP lovely lady. XXX

I first met Lyn in the late 70s when I was hired as a page at the Red Hill branch. I was 14 (the library was one of the few places where you could get a job under 16 years of age) I was a newly hired page at the Red Hill branch of HPL, located in Eastgate Square...upstairs...across from the Steak N Burger??? I was kind of a non talker...Lyn was certainly not. Those days, a page at HPL was expected to "retire" after high school. When the time was right, I "retired"
Lyn suggested I apply for a job at the newly opened Central branch on York Boulevard....within weeks, I had a job which lasted 40 years. I was blessed...best job ever. Thank you, Lyn for your guidance to long lasting friendships. That was your gift.
I also remember Lyn as a rebel rouser on behalf of CUPE 932, but always so sweet towards me. Lyn was always kind and noticed everybody. She is an inspiration for kindness and her love of our four legged friends is heart warming and insprational.
I will for sure contribute to her legacy with a donation to the SPCA...a commitment our hearts will share...on earth or in heaven.

We will miss seeing Lyn stroll down Taylor road with the puppies. I will always remember the care and concern she showed my children; she valued their voice and always acknowledged my girls´ athletic skills and had long talks about field hockey with my eldest. She also spoke so highly of her nieces and nephews. Taylor road has lost an important member of our community. Rest easy Lyn. Michele Paci and family

Dear Bev and Family: You do not know me, but I worked with Lyn at the Hamilton Public Library years ago. I was very saddened to hear of Lyn´s passing. I really remember her quick wit/humour with fond memories. I always enjoyed hearing her stories about "back home", Belfast. She went way too young. My thoughts and prayers are with you Bev and Family, at this difficult time.

My happiest moment of our Lynda is when her Uncle Billy and I met her coming off the plane from Ireland at the young age of 18 years old. We brought her to be part of our family.
Lynda fit in and became a great part of our family. We had wonderful years together and will always remember her kind heart and thoughtfulness. We were a happy family and Lynda was one of us.
Love you forever and never forgotten. Love Aunt Violet xxx

I met Lyn in church many years ago, always smiling and fun to be around. When I moved to far from the church I kept in touch on fb. I will always remember her as we both had the same birthday and she was an inspiration. Hugs to the family and friends, and to you Bev.

Lyn was a force of nature. Her quick wit, her ability to mimic, her storytelling, her warmth and caring, her insightfulness, her passion to protect the world's innocent creatures, and her ability to love without reservation made the world a better place for all.

Many happy memories of my old school friend Lyn (Lynda Boyce)We chummed from the age of 13 and both had a love for sport and cars... remembering Lynda´s favourite car MGBGT which she continually talked about
We used to meet at C&A on a Saturday morning before going to play hockey... Fun days and great memories of visiting Granny and Granda Boyce and Nanny and Granda Keys... had a lovely visit to Canada with Lyn and Bev and had the privilege of meeting Bev´s parents in Barrie... I´m so fortunate I got the opportunity to speak with Lyn and enjoyed listening to "All the Biz" about her love for Bev, Diane and her nieces and nephews... She was so proud of you all. I´m devastated by this sad news... Love and prayers... Jennifer and Anne

Our families have been attached for decades through friendships, friendships that spanned across the ocean from Northern Ireland to Canada. I don't think I have ever met someone with such a pure heart with zero hate, and nothing but love for everyone around you. The living world has lost one of its brightest souls but the sky and universe have gained a a beautiful star.

You will be missed by so many Lyn,
Rest easy.
