July 3, 1942 - August 26, 2022
It is with great sadness, I announce after a courageous battle with cancer the passing of my beloved husband Marc Pierre Langlois on Friday, August 26, 2022. Marc was born in France while the bombs were falling during World War II. He will be dearly missed by his wife Mieke of 57 years. Loving father of Caroline (Brian), Nathalie (James) and Eric. Devoted grandfather of Alex and Victor. He will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in France, Australia and Canada. Marc Served as a navigator with the Air Navy from 1962-1965. At the age of 23, he decided to travel the world and see how other people lived and to experience the freedom after serving in the Air Navy. His travel plans came to a halt three days after arriving in Adelaide, South Australia. He met his future wife Mieke. They were married eight months later. Caroline, the eldest daughter was born in Adelaide. Marc was missing his family in France and felt Australia was quite far away from the rest of the world. He decided to pack up his family and move back to France. While there his second daughter Nathalie was born.
Life in France was difficult, hard to find a job and living with children at his parent's house. Somehow, we managed. Then the call came, his parents in law were moving from Australia to Canada to be close to relatives already living in Toronto.
We arrived in Canada in 1969. Marc found work with a chemical company and rose from traffic clerk to Director of Purchasing worldwide, he got his purchasing degree along the way. He traveled quite a bit and saved the company millions of dollars. Marc joined his wife in their own business selling dental alloys and merchandise to dental labs and dentists in June 1995. We were very successful for 15 years and sold in 2010. After a long 12 and a half year coffee break between the girls, his son Eric was born in Oakville in 1981. Marc's passion was seeing movies and reading about the Great War and World War II. He also was quite a handy man and renovated the houses he lived in. After our retirement, we did a lot of traveling. A special thank you to the wonderful nurses from St. Elizabeth, who came every day to see Marc, to Care Partners for helping on some nights from 11 p.m. - 7 a.m. and to Carpenter Hospice for their support in making Marc comfortable during his last days. Donations to the
Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. A visitation will be held at Dodsworth and Brown Funeral Home (2241 New Street in Burlington) on Friday, September 02, 2022 from 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church (196 Kenwood Avenue in Burlington) on Saturday, September 03, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will take place following the mass.
