I appreciate the support and advice that Marcel provided to me in the early part of my psychiatric career. I enjoyed having coffee with him in the HPH cafeteria on many occasions.
At this time, I wish to express my condolences to his family.

I have vivid memories of Marcel. As a resident I had many clinical interactions with him while working at HPH. At one time he was my psychotherapy supervisor. I learned a lot from his existential and humanistic perspectives. He had a wonderful knowledge of history and literature and was always able to recall relevant historical events or anecdotes.
He was a lively and animated raconteur with a perceptive sense of humour. He was of course at that time a chain smoker of little black cigarellos which must have relieved some of the angst that resulted from from the political and administrative demands of being Medical Director et choses!
It was a privilege to know him.
Condolences to all his family.

I have some wonderful memories working with Dr. Lemieux as part of the management team at the Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital. He was always impeccably dressed, had a kind word and smile for everyone he met and a flamboyant style which endeared him to his staff. He regaled us with many wonderful stories about his family of whom he was very proud and loved dearly. His greatest joy were his children and grandchildren. Professionally, his leadership and vision for the future of mental health care brought innovative changes in patient care and attracted many psychiatrists and health care professionals from across our country, the USA, and other parts of the world to our hospital, which became the flagship for the Province. It was a privilege and a pleasure to work with Marcel and exciting to be a part of this era in the history of HPH. My heartfelt condolences to his family at this sad time. May your memories be a comfort to you!

For the past fifteen years Marcel was my neighbour on the eleventh floor at Lasalle Towers, Burlington.
He and his wife, I heard, had raised their children here and enjoyed the pleasure of living a good life, overlooking the beautiful harbour front view.
I regret never having met Jeanette, as I have heard what a lovely person she was, however the timing was off, as she passed within a few days after I had moved into my place just around the corner from her and Dr Lemieux's home on the other wing.
It was always a pleasure to meet Marcel, either coming or going, getting on or off the elevator, as he would always greet me with a nice smile and a few friendly words.
Dr Lemieux was strong of spirit and body, always walked at a quick pace like he meant business, well up into his ninetieth year.
Seeing him, I hoped that I too would be that agile if I reached his age.
I miss seeing Marcel's light on in his place at night. I shall miss seeing him at the building front entrance, awaiting his children to pick him up, to spent precious time with their father.
Dr Lemieux was one of a kind. His impressive credentials speak for that.
I extend my deepest condolences to all his family and friends.
Find comfort in a lifetime of fond memories of happy times.

Some of my most cherished memories revolve around the time I worked with Dr. Lemieux when he served as Forensic Program Director of Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital (1981-1991).
It was a privilege to learn
from his formidable psychiatric experience and
considerable cultural interests.
