Margaret Koropatnicki Obituary

With heavy hearts our family announces the peaceful passing of Margaret in her 96th year. Widow of Bill, Mother to Georgia (Hugh) and Don (Judy). Baba to Lesley (Matthew), Grant (Tammy), Greg (Sabrina) and Jenny. Great-Baba (Bubsky) to Liam, Myles, Connor, Sydney, Charlie, and Arianna. Sister to Janet Elaine and Linda. Aunt to Jim (Annette), Patty and Nancy. Great-aunt to Abbey, Jenna, Lilly, Clare, Holly and Mandy.
Mrs. K. was a Rosedale community advocate and leader. She spent many years coaching, organizing community events and giving back to those in need. She enjoyed curling, golfing and loved cheering for the Hamilton Bulldogs, Saskatchewan Rough Riders and all family athletes. As a result of her many contributions to Hamilton, she was named Senior Citizen of the Year. She received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee medal and numerous other acknowledgements. A local sports park was named in her honour.
Knitting and listening to the radio were her trademarks. We cherish her wash cloths, toques and scarves. Hundreds of Connor premie caps were donated to hospitals. Mum enjoyed playing cards at Seniors Centres, attending St. Mary's Church, painting Ukrainian Easter eggs and socializing.
Margaret was always discrete, positive and grateful. Her cup was overflowing.
Tentative funeral June 16 and 17 at Markey/Dermody. Celebration of Life at The End Zone.
In lieu of flowers donations to McMaster Children's Hospital, City Kidz, or Salvation Army would be appreciated.

Dear Georgia, Donny & family,
It is with deep sadness to learn of your moms passing. Our deepest condolences to you and your family. Growing up from a next door to Aunty Margaret, I always remember her sitting on the front porch knitting and listening to a Blue Jays game. I would walk by and say "Hi, Aunty Margaret", she always smiled and say "Hi Leanne". I also remembered how she walked up to the Rosedale arena on a warm sunny day. And how she loved the kids in the neighbourhood. She was so involved with Rosedale arena and the Rosedale community to make it one of the best areas to live. I have so, so many fond memories of Aunty Margaret. She was there for me when my father and grandmother both passed. I will truly miss her. My mom feels so sad with her loss. The Rosedale area lost a wonderful lady and will never be the same. I will never forget her.
With deepest condolences,
Leanne (Spelic) Pistone and Lily Spelic and family.
