1924-2022
On September 7, 2022, in her 97th year, our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at Idlewyld Manor in Hamilton. Predeceased by her loving husband Sidney (July 2014), Margarete will be greatly missed by her children Peter (Ruth), Roger (Brenda), Barbara Sheridan (Jim), and Mark (Kim). Cherished grandmother of Shane (Amy), Dean (Denise), Cody (Brittney), David (Erin), and Brian (Julie). Beloved great-grandmother of Sophia, Sadie, Ariel, Cohen, Madden, Adalynn, Sydney, and Sutton. Following WWII, Margarete was a nanny for a brigadier general in England, where she met and married husband Sidney on September 29, 1951. They immigrated to Canada in 1953 and resided for over 60 years in Burlington. She brought many talents to her role as a homemaker, including her experience as a practical nurse, her skills as a seamstress and baker, and her love of gardening. An avid nature lover and walker, Margarete was a longtime member of the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Bruce Trail Association. Many thanks to the caring and supportive staff at Rose Garden in Idlewyld Manor, Hamilton. A private family service will take place with cremation to follow.
