1927 - 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria on March 10, 2022 at Mackenzie Health in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Maria was the beloved wife of the late Antonio and the cherished mother of Angela and son-in-law, Ulderico Valeriano. She was predeceased by her parents, Gennaro and Angela Cipriani, her in-laws, Alfonzo and Rosa Caduto, her sister, Adelia Leone, and her brother-in-law, Guerino Leone. Maria will be sadly missed by her brother, Domenico Cipriani, her sister-in-law, Ada Cipriani, and her loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in Canada, the USA and Italy. Maria was born in Pettorano sul Gizio, L'Aquila, Italy. She immigrated to Canada with Antonio and shortly thereafter began working at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario, which continued until her retirement. After her retirement, Maria and Antonio enjoyed travelling together to the Caribbean and ltaly. Maria loved to bake and cook for her family and friends. She was a meticulous housekeeper and was very proud of her gardens. Maria was an active member of the Pettorano sul Gizio Social Club where she contributed to great feasts with her friends. Maria's family expresses their gratitude to Nurse Anika and the dedicated staff of Mackenzie Health who cared for Maria during her final journey. Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton St. E., Hamilton on Monday, March 14 from 3 pm to 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 165 Prospect Street North, Hamilton on Tuesday, March 15 at 10 am, followed by entombment at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, 600 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington.
