Marie Elizabeth MacPherson

Sadly, and yet with deep gratitude for her life, we announce that Marie died at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the age of 92. Marie was the beloved wife of John (1987); the cherished mother and mother-in-law of Kathleen (1999), Karen and Brian Chesla, Paul and Leslie, Mike and Diana, Marie and Chris Smith, Colleen and Michael Barliak, Dennis, Jim and Anna, Rob, Bill, Ron and Jennifer, and Don. Loving Grandma to Kendra, Gareth (Andrea), Ellen, Michaela (Darren), Michael, Adriana, Paula, John, Connor, Martene, Eddie and Maggie. Proud Great-Grandma to Ben and Lisa. Loved Sister-in-law of Almira MacPherson and many nieces and nephews. She has been reunited with her parents, Michael and Christina; her brothers, Kenny (Marguerite) and Father Michael Callaghan; her sisters, Grace (Lou) Kline and Sister Michaeleen Callaghan; her brother-in-laws, Hughie (Anna), Danny, Andy, Lauchie, Billy (Betty); and sister-in-law Mary. Marie and John arrived in Grimsby in 1956, building a home in the Co-op. Marie spent many years volunteering in the community; schools, sports, St. Joseph Church and she was an original founding member of the Grimsby Benevolent Fund (GBF). The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Seamus Donaghy for his compassionate care of Mom over the years. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Monday, January 9, 2023, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 135 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Queen's Lawn Cemetery.
