Mario MAZZOCATO Obituary

(1930-2022)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Mario, on Sunday, October 2, 2022, surrounded by his family. As the sun set, he took his last breath. Beloved husband for 63 years of the late Rose. Dear father of Gianni and Sergio (Sandra). Proud Nonno of Jordan and Tylor. Predeceased by his parents Bruno and Maria Mazzocato and siblings Alice, Luigi, Anna, and Aldo. He is survived by his brother Angelo (Flora) and sister Gemma. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada. Mario came to Canada in search of a better life in 1954. He married his teenage sweetheart Rose in 1956. Dad was a hard worker with tireless energy. His greatest passion was playing bocce and he represented Canada many times at the World Bocce Championships. He was a proud member of the Chedoke Bocce Club and the Venetian Club. He loved watching Formula 1 and tennis. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking, having made the best minestrone soup around. Mario enjoyed the company of his two best friends, Larry and Saverio. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and all those who helped our father. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Annunciation of Our Lord Catholic Church (280 Limeridge Rd. W, Hamilton, ON L9C 2V2) with entombment to follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery (254 Garner Rd. W., Ancaster). For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the local Alzheimer's Society. Arrangements entrusted to Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home, Ancaster (905) 648-3852.
