Marion CAVASIN Obituary
Now to capture 8+ decades.
Marion spent most of her life in her favourite city, a city and community she was entrenched in and proud to call home, Hamilton.
Marion started building a life and connections at a small shop on King Street, named ironically "Career Girl". Marion, the quintessential career girl, went on to build and enjoy a 27 year tenure with the T. Eaton Company, a profession she took very seriously. Marion's ability and talent to dress individuals to not only look their best, feel their best, but to BE their best was a gift for many. Marion shared this gift with style, choreographing and directing fashion shows here in Hamilton with Festitalia, and in Toronto with dozens of established designers and "stars on the horizon".
Marion's passion for fashion was only second to her desire to support and inspire others, so when a service club committed to doing what they can to improve the lives of women and girls in our community and around the world was looking to expand here in Hamilton it was a natural fit. Marion became a charter (and lifetime) member of Soroptimist International of Hamilton-Burlington. As with many volunteer positions, Marion worked hard, in return, receiving the joy of watching others reach goals they never believed possible, and along the way Marion built and treasured the bonds of friendships.
Marion created and provided a unique twist to family playtime, in that it always lovingly included extended family, spending countless weekends poolside at the Holiday Inn.
Travelling southern Ontario, or seated ringside in the Forum wearing designer inspired blue and gold to support and strengthen extended family ties, and obviously to cheer on the Fincups.
Marion was also spotted more recently in her solid maroon cheering on the Marauders and Mammoth, or sporting the black and gold on TiCat game days, yes she infused fashion in everything she touched, and always in support of others.
As a Grandmother, Marion devoted all of her retirement to her self proclaimed role as JC's "Biggest Fan" Marion shared her love of sport, entertainment, drama and fashion; cheering for JC at football/soccer fields, talent shows and shouting "you know" at hundreds of dance competitions.
Marion will be missed daily by her daughters, Kelly and Laurie, son-in-law John, and grandson John Charles. Marion was a wonderful sister and friend to John ,Mary, Helen ,Charlie, Paul, Madelyn, Lenora, Angelo, Ann, Mario, Marjorie, William, Pamela, Anna, Wyd, Charlie, Anna, Ron, Sylvia, Richard, Anita, John, Dianne, Helen, Pat and Faye. Marions love and appreciation of family was evident in her close relationships with 3 generations of nieces and nephews. Marion was truly a special, supportive and inspirational Aunt.
Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens 947 Rymal Rd. East. Hamilton, Ontario on Wednesday, September 1st. From 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King, 714 King St. W, Hamilton, Ontario on Thursday, September 2nd at 10 a.m.

As per family request, only fully vaccinated guests will be permitted at the Cathedral and Funeral Home.

Dear Family of Marion Cavasin,
Marion was such a classy and respectable woman. A role model and icon in her own right. As a young girl walking through Eaton’s or later having secured a part time job in the downtown store while a student, or seeing her in the downtown core, I always thought, I want to look like and be like this grand woman. She always had a smile and greeting for everyone and treated all with respect and dignity regardless of their station or fortune in life. An end of an era for sure but the impact and memories will endure. I’m sorry for your loss, she’ll be greatly missed I’m sure. May her memory be a blessing.

Dear Kelly, Laurie and family, I will remember Marion with fondness from my time at Eaton's serving at the Deli on her break and from the neighbourhood these last 25 years. She always had a smile on her face and something positive to stay. She will be missed.

One of Hamilton’s true First Lady Of fashion. Many moons ago starting a new career at Eatons, Marion took me under her wing and became a life long friend. Her kindness, passion for retail and fashion was an inspiration for me. Your spirit lives on in our wonderful memories. Condolences to Laurie, John, JC, Kelly and family. RIP Marion

My deepest condolences to Marion's girls and their families. Marion was an inspiration to many young ladies and gentlemen over the years. I was one who was honored to have know Marion and receive her kindness and strength. There are not enough words to express how much I loved and admired her. Although I did not keep in close contact with Marion, she was always in my thoughts. When people asked who I admired in my life...it was Marion's name that was spoken. You will be truly missed Marion.

She was a frequent customer at Williams Fresh Cafe at the Hamilton Waterfront & we all enjoyed seeing her smiling face regularly. She was so sweet & we always enjoyed talking with her .
