It is with deep sadness we must announce the death of Marlene Elizabeth Cameron, in the evening on June 25th. Marlene died peacefully in her sleep at the Hamilton General Hospital. She was predeceased by Norman, her devoted husband of 64 years. She was a loving and caring mother to sons Stephen (Michelle), Kenneth (Jennifer) and Norman (Karen) and her grandchildren Andrew, Jane, Nicholas, Elizabeth, and Gwendolyn. She is deeply missed by her brother Barry Tait (Ariane), and was predeceased by her sisters-in-law Ruth Wade (Maurice), Jean Booth (Fred) and Barbara Walker (Ted). She also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her lifelong friend Phyllis Campbell. Born in Hamilton on September 7, 1937 she was the daughter of Archibald and Margaret Tait. Marlene was a homemaker up until she returned to school in the 1980s and graduated from Mohawk College class of 1985. She worked as an insurance underwriter and was made a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Canada in 1992. Marlene's great loves were family, church, theatre, and music. She volunteered at the Hamilton Presbytery Resource Centre, and was a member of a women's book club (the Her-etics). Marlene was an active member of Binkley and St. Paul's United Churches and was a member of UCW at both Churches. She sang with her husband in the St. Paul's choir, and their "summer church" in Sharbot Lake. She met everyone with a mind set of respect and gratitude; her gentleness, love and humour will not be forgotten. She spent her life in the service of her family, her friends, and her church. Take now your well-deserved rest, and be reunited with your dearly loved Norm. A private service will be held. It will be live streamed on July 16th at 11:00am through stpaulsdundas.com, and available on the website thereafter. Donations to St. Paul's United Church in Dundas would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Stephen, Ken, and Norman. We both babysat you from just before Norman was born till long after so your parents could square dance. Marlene was a kind, wonderful person and a great friend to our mother and to both of us. She will be missed.

Marlene, a neighbour across the hall, gracious, patient, gentle, always concerned about the well being of others, a true friend. As a person of Faith, warmth and care she will be greatly missed.
Marlene and Norm earned many wonderful friendships and were always a delight to be with. Their passing is a profound loss.

I have just learned about the passing of dear Marlene. What a wonderful office volunteer she was at St. Paul´s! She always brought such loyalty, grace, patience and care of detail to her work and I was thankful to be able to see her each week. We shared stories, worries, joys and thoughts. I could always count on Marlene to offer a good book title to read! You were a modern day saint, Marlene, and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to know you and love you. You will be missed in many difference places, given your wide circle of influence. Enjoy the music of heaven now!
