Mary TWEEDLE Obituary

TWEEDLE, Mary Winnifred (nee Edwards) Mary passed peacefully on June 6, 2019 at The Creek Way Village, Burlington, in her 93rd year. Most loved and devoted wife of the late Murray Neil Tweedle for 72 years, she is cherished and celebrated by her beloved children and partners, Jane Swackhammer (late Donald), Carolyn Aldgate, Alison Smith (Steve), Allan (Dianne), Jill Etherden (Morgan Wannop), predeceased by daughters Wendy McKinnon, and Linda Tedesco (Dino). And then there is Mary and Murray's legacy of 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, a true dynasty. Each of us was loved so much and made to feel so special. Mary was the seventh of 12 children of the late Winnie and Charles Edwards, survived by sisters Betty Oliphant (Ray), Joan Marshall (late Mid), Geraldine Bucher (late Ken), and Barbara Secord (late Don), and predeceased by Jack, Bert, Gordon, Dorothy Secord, Chuck, Ray, and Vicki Campagnolo (Frank). She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Buist (late Bert), many nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Whenever possible, Mary contributed to the family income either by helping Murray with his house building, working at E.D.Smith's during strawberry and tomato seasons, on the assembly line at BarLin Industries, or cashiering at Dominion Stores, all the while ensuring we were well cared for, and the house was clean and tidy. As Murray could have told you, and we children can confirm, she was a force with whom to be reckoned. She was the consummate hostess, gracious and warm, and the epitome of kindness and generosity. The family thanks the caring staff of both The Meadowlands and Creek Way Village. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment. Family and friends are invited to honour Mary at a Celebration of Life reception at The Halton Room (rear entrance), 2055 Upper Middle Road, Burlington, on June 25 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. TOGETHER WITH HER BELOVED MURRAY AGAIN!
