Maureen McLeod Obituary

March 7, 1947 to September 5, 2021

We are extremely sad to share the news of Moe's passing. She is predeceased by her parents Harry and Florence Burr; grandparents Joseph and Verna Burr and Everest and Jessie Derbyshire; Stu and her special friend MacGregor. She is survived by her sister Beverley and brother David (Kim).
Moe was an extremely talented and creative person from a very young age participating in many activities and sports which included dancing, baton twirling, baseball, volleyball and tennis. She thoroughly enjoyed skiing in Collingwood and spending time at the cottage on Little Straggle Lake. Whether coaching, participating or spectating, Moe always prioritized skill and fun.
She spent the duration of her career with the Hamilton-Wentworth Board of Education as a dedicated physical education instructor and a guidance counsellor. Frequently, when asked by students if she had any children, she would respond, "You are all my children".
Moe displayed her creativity in successfully conducting a Dance Fitness business "Heart and Sole" in the Dundas and Ancaster areas.
Her sense of humour, congeniality and thoughtfulness towards others will be fondly remembered by all who knew her: cousins, relatives in England and Finland, her many close friends, roommates from Western University, teaching colleagues as well as neighbors past and present.
The family is expecially grateful to Dr. Goodacre and the special nurses and personal support workers (St Elizabeth Health Care and Paramed) who aided and guided Moe and the family through her illness.
Moe was the constant conveyor of many adages by which to live one's life - her favourite being "LOVE and LAUGHTER" which was the mainstay of her life.
In lieu of flowers please raise a glass in memory of Moe.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 23rd from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Carrigan Arms located on Brant Street, in Burlington, Ontario.

My deepest sympathies to Bev and Dave. Maureen was easily the kindest person that I ever knew. I had the greatest memories of my years with the Burr family. They were very generous to me and I will always be eternally grateful to them all. God Bless you all. Memory eternal!!

Miss burr was my favorite teacher.
Highschool was hard for me at time, but she made it bearable.
She was kind, caring and genuine.
I ran into years after she retired..
Still warm caring soul....she talked about " her kids".
I'm better for knowing this lovely lady.

I am so so sad to here this news. Once a sister always a sister to me. So many wonderful memories. Beverly, Dave and Kim you are in my thoughts and in my heart, sending you all hugs. Love Julie Douthart ❤ My most wonderful memory with Moe - our golfing days, cottage days, Grey cup, volleyball tournaments but most of all I couldn't ask for the kindest, most loving, understanding sister inlaw that I so loved and was so grateful in my life to be part of the Burr family. You guys hold the most special place always with me ❤ xo
