Michael Hunt Obituary

February 17, 1958 - September 5, 2022

How do you begin to describe a person like Michael?

Family was everything to him and his wife Wendy and daughters Stephanie and Kristen will continue to live out his life legacy. He felt confident knowing his girls would be taken care of thanks to Ryan and Billy. His greatest joy in life were his grandkids Liam, Jack, and Layla. He was our greatest cheerleader and will continue to cheer us all on from above. Mike was the person he was because of his loving parents, Gord and Jackie. He was fortunate to be loved by so many, Pat and Bob, John, Vince and Ellen, Len and Rejeanne, Cathy and Gary, Debbie and Ron, Chris and Jodie and Tom. He was a huge influence on Cam, Colin, Grace, Amanda, Dave, Stacie, Mike, Andy, Tyler, Ryan, Rachel. To all Michael's loving family, amazing friends, and great colleagues you all know how important you were to him. He loved each and every one of you and with his personality I'm sure you already knew that. Mike genuinely wanted to get to know everyone and not in a small talk kind of way, he truly wanted to get to know you. He made everyone feel seen and heard and he will be greatly missed for that. He was a sports enthusiast to his core - running, golf, hockey and lacrosse were his passions and when his girls inherited his love for sport, he developed a newfound passion for coaching. He always said if you love your job you'll never work a day in your life and he was so proud of his 41 years at Dofasco.

The family invites you to come share a memory or story of Mike or just spend time on Monday September 12, 2022, from 2-4 and 7-9 at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (Between Mohawk and Fennell). A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday September 13, 2022, at 11am in the Funeral Home Chapel.
In true Mike fashion, he would want you to know that he requested "The Toronto Maple Leafs to be his pallbearers, so they could let him down one last time."-- Online condolences can be made to www.dermodys.com

My apologies for the tardiness of this response. Mike was always a good face to see. His cool demeaner and upbeat persona were welcomed always by everyone he met. So sad to learn of his passing. Mike's path and mine crossed one another dozens of times at Dofasco. Another great man gone far too soon! RIP dear friend.

Mike and I carpooled to Dofasco in the summer of 77 or 78. Driver controlled the stereo, and I admit, now, that I liked his choice of music more than he liked mine. His car was better than mine, too.
One of the good guys.

Mike has been a wonderful neighbor and friend for over 18 years. He was always helping me when my kids were little by shoveling my driveway and other small things that were greatly appreciated. He always took time to talk to my girls and throw a ball their way when they were little. I have had lots of great conversations with Mike over the years and enjoyed his up beat personality. We will greatly miss him in our lives.

Such a sad day. I also spent 40 years at Dofasco and knew him there, but would have met Michael anyway at the Sport & Fitness Academy. Michael and Wendy were a wonderful couple and we will all miss him.
