Michael MOORES Obituary

April 11, 1954 - October 21, 2022

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the age of 68. He will forever be in the hearts of his wife and best friend of nearly 50 years, Dale (nee Green), and two daughters Amanda (Andrew) and Lauren (Shaun). Survived by his siblings Jeannie (John), Robert, Nancy (Chris) and sisters-in-law Debbie (Mark) and Dawn, as well as his cherished nieces and nephews. Mike was a devoted employee of Leon's Furniture in Burlington for 48 years where he made a profound impact on both his coworkers and customers. He was a huge fan of the Beatles and Montreal Canadiens, and loved golfing, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed "playing the races," taking part in work football pools, and traveling with his wife. Mike was without a doubt one of the most amazing, caring men, who was always there for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his entire family, lifelong friends, and golf buddies.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would sincerely appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. It was a tremendous privilege to work with mike for nearly four years. Mike had a wealth of experience and was a true legend within Leon´s. We shared some great jabs and had some good laughs given Mike´s love for the Canadiens and Jack Nicklaus while I am a fan of the Leafs and Tiger. He was reliable, dependable, and a true professional; customers loved him and his colleagues loved him as well. Mike will be missed, but certainly not forgotten.

Dale, Amanda, Lauren, and all of Mike's Family, my sincere condolences it's been an honor and pleasure to have had Mike in my life for 40 years. I will always remember the great times we had because there were never any bad ones. I met Mike and Dale through my brother in law Mare and we became friends, we played hockey and golf together for so many years and used them for any excuse to have a party. I WILL MISS YOU MY FRIEND, & NEVER FORGET YOU.

To The Moores Family,

It will never be the same going into the Burlington Leon's store without my favourite Sales Person. I had the pleasure of meeting Mike 20 years or so ago when we needed appliances for our house. After that whenever we needed furniture we would always make our way over to the appliance area to chit chat to Mike and see how he and his family were doing. Last year was the last time I saw Mike after purchasing a new TV. Mike was always pleasant, professional, had the greatest smile ever and a great guy to deal with. He will be sorely missed.

Dear Dale, Amanda, and Lauren,

I am so sorry for your loss. My late father, my brother and myself all had the privilege of working with Mike. Mike and my father were very close and it was an honour to speak about Mike during his acceptance of the David Gadsby Memorial Award. He was a phenomenal salesman and was well-respected by both his peers and customers. He was a genuine person who you could always count on for an honest opinion or a good laugh. We are sending heartfelt sympathy for your loss.

Warm regards,
William Gadsby (National Operations Manager, Leon's)

Dear Dale, Amanda, and Lauren,

I had the privilege of working and knowing Mike for most of my career with Leon's. He was a kind man and a true gentleman. He was always a leader on the sales floor, mentoring countless young associates - including me as a young Sales Manager. He spoke of all of you often and fondly and always with a twinkle in his eye. He will be missed by many people in our Leon's community and his memory will live on in our stories and in our hearts. I am wishing you all peace and strength during this difficult time.

My sincerest condolences,
Hilary Donaldson (National Sales Manager, Leon's)

To the Moores family:

My sincerest condolences for your loss.

Mike and I first met over eight years ago when we worked together in the Burlington store for almost four years, and during the entire time, I was always thankful for his friendship, loyalty and support. He was almost always one of the first one's into work, usually one of the last one's to leave, and never once missed an opportunity to have a team night out across the street.
Mike was always offering to help those around him, including myself who was new to the team, he gave me a warm welcome from the very beginning, always spoke his mind, and for these few things amongst the many others I've had the upmost respect for him.

Mike, I will miss your stories and the laughs we shared together. Thank you for always being supportive, someone I could trust, and for sharing your wisdom and insights with me.

Dear Dale, Amanda, and Lauren,
On behalf of all of us who knew and worked with Mike please accept our heartfelt condolences. Not many people can spend their entire career at one company, never mind 48 years. They say when you work for a company, work for the company - and Mike always did. From his humble warehouse beginnings in his beige shirt with the Leon's logo, to the pinnacle of success, winning the coveted David Gadsby Memorial Award as our company's top sales associate, Mike always did his best for our company and for our customers. His loyalty and commitment were unwavering in both good times as well as challenging times. They also say when you work for a company, leave your footsteps in the sand, let people know you were there, and that you made a difference. Mike's footsteps will not be washed away anytime soon, and he will be greatly missed by his fellow associates and customers alike.
Sincerely
Graeme Leon

When I first started at Leon's, I was just a young 20 year old kid starting my sales career. I struggled at first but lucky for me I had the legend Mike Moores in my department, he took me under his wing and really taught me how to be a successful salesman. We had many laughs, whether it was watching the holy grail at work or mocking each others hockey team. He didnt have to help me at all but he did and for that I will always hold Mike in the highest regards. He will be missed. My condolences to the family.
