Michael Nelligan

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our father, Michael Augustine Nelligan of Hamilton, Ontario on August 4, 2022, at the age of 77 in his 78th year. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Evangeline; his children, Shannon Marie (Peter), Jason Michael (Lisa) and Kerri Lee. Our father leaves behind his grandchildren, Brandon, Christopher, Jazlyn, Michael, and Joshua who will miss him dearly. Our father embraced his Irish roots and came from a large Irish Catholic family, which was reflected in his bond he had with his siblings Vern (Pauline), Bud (Norma) Jackie Sherk (the late Evan), Pat (Bev), and the twins Tom (Pam) and Jerry. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Dad was a devout Catholic and was a long-standing 4th degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. He had an infectious smile which lit up the room when he beat his brothers, Pat, and Jerry, at Cribbage all the time. Michael was a retired employee of Firestone with 25 years of service. Special thanks to the team at St. Joseph's Hospital for their care and compassion for our father. A celebration of our father's life will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Ave., on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, with two viewings from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held in the chapel of St. Elizabeth's Village, 393 Rymal Road West on Wednesday, August 10th at 11am. Burial to take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Krembil Brain Institute, located at Toronto Western Hospital, uhnfoundation.ca would be appreciated.
