Michael SELLENS Obituary
Michael was an exceptionally gifted and bright child. Possessed of a beautiful singing voice (both as a child and adult), he showed ability in musical theatre in his youth. Born in Hamilton in 1970, Michael's early life was spent in Dundas where he attended Parkside High School before admission to Queen's University.
Michael was handsome, witty, and full of life. He was exceptionally bright, outgoing, and easy to talk to: his engaging smile and charm will be remembered by all. Friends, both human and canine, will miss him dearly.
In light of current COVID-19 restrictions, a private family funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the OSPCA or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.

Mike and I were newly minted R.O's for Elections Canada. We attended training sessions in Ottawa and North York, in the same group.
Charismatic, intelligent, funny, handsome, quirky and extraordinarily kind. His unbridled lust for life and insatiable curiosity, together with a childlike enthusiasm; Mike was all of these things, wrapped up in a warm and gentle soul.
From the moment you met Mike, it was impossible not to love him. Mike was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word, with impeccable manners.
His love shone through as a bright beacon. Making him impossible to forget. The world is a little darker now, without him.
My sincerest condolences to his family, friends and anyone else who had the good fortune of having Mike cross their paths. I always thought he'd 'be there'.
There was and will only ever be - one Mike Sellens.

Michael was always so generous and supportive of me as a Black transgender woman, he was so proud of me. A classically handsome rare gem, handsome like Paul Newman.

Michael was such a lovely man, he was my neighbor for a number of years & will certainly be missed by many in our building. He was always so kind, upbeat and generous with his compliments; he could brighten up your day with his mischievous smile..... My heart breaks for the Sellens family over the loss of Michael and his father......

Michael and I lived in the same apartment building and were 'elevator' friends. He was always very pleasant, complimentary and upbeat when we met. I and others in the building were very saddened by his unexpected death. I feel very much for you especially since Michael was not the only to leave you recently. My heartfelt thoughts are with you

Mike had a huge kind heart, a super generous spirit and a sparkle in his eye. He was handsome, had an amazing sense of style, and was the MOST fun. Mike was one of a kind and I'm lucky to have had him as my friend. I'll miss him.

You were my oldest friend. My first memory of you is coming to my birthday in your light blue suit. You were always impeccably dressed, penny loafers, the vest sweaters, perfect hair. In fact I even remember many nights sipping Baby Duck by moonlight. Everything you did was with style. You never ever aged. I think every single one of us who you grew up would say their most fun and craziest high school memories were with you. You made everyone laugh, sing and dance their hearts out. I think you still hold the worlds record for having braces on the longest at 17 years. You were beyond brilliant. Your intelligence was astonishing. To Judy, Sandy and Cathy and families we are so sorry for the loss of Mike and Claire. All of Dundas are wrapping our arms around you. The one song Mike used to blast over and over again in that white rabbit convertible was “Wind Beneath my Wings”. Seems so fitting now. Love you Mike. Till we meet again my dear friend ❤
