STURROCK, Michael Charles May 7, 1942 - April 4, 2018 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mike Sturrock at Hamilton General Hospital on April 4, 2018 at the age of 75. Mike passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family and friends. Mike was the beloved husband of Rita (Darroch) for over 53 years and cherished father of Shelby Matijasich (Jason) and Kyle Sturrock (Cindy). Adored grandfather of Ben, Michael, Josh, Gavin and Selena. Dear brother of Linda Vernet (Max) of Kingston, Ontario. Brother-in-law of Irene and Brian Harrop and the late May Johnstone and late John Johnstone. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Norma Sturrock. Mike will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family. His kindness, sense of humour and warmth were endless. A lifelong resident of Hamilton, Mike was a devoted and caring high school teacher and coach who inspired his many students and players over the years. In retirement, Mike, Rita and family enjoyed many wonderful years at their cottage in the Haliburton Highlands. He will be missed by all who knew him, family, friends - old friends and new. A Celebration of Life reception will be held on Tuesday, April 24th from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Royal Botanical Gardens, 680 Plains Road West, Burlington. As expressions of sympathy in Mike's memory, a donation to the Hamilton Conservation Foundation would be appreciated.
