Michael VANDENBOS

1934 - 2021

In His infinite wisdom and at His appointed time, our Gracious God called home His child, Michael (Anne-Marinus) Vandenbos at the age of 87 years on Sunday, August 29, 2021. Beloved husband of 62 years to Barbara Vandenbos (Jongs). Loved father of Brenda and Everett Gritter, Ann and Fred Beintema, Irene and John VanAndel, Rick and Jenny Vandenbos, Jackie and Hendrik Dejonge, Linda and Willem Vanderven, Elaine Vandenbos, Marion and Graham Bosveld and Brian and Nancy Vandenbos. Dear grandpa to 48 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren. Mike was born in Balkbrug, Overijssel, The Netherlands on June 11, 1934. He immigrated to Hamilton Ontario at the age of 18 years where he enjoyed careers in landscaping and farming for many years.

Mike will be deeply missed by his family around the world, dear cousin Jenny Smit and many close friends. He was a brother to siblings, †Henk (Ge) Vandenbos, †John (†Bauk) Vandenbos, †Frans (Jannie) Vandenbos, Ap (†Jannie) Vandenbos, Hennie (†Ap) Spaargaren, Annemarie Vandenbos and Roel Vandenbos. Brother-in-law to Marty (†Bill) Hoogerdijk, †Ann (†Herman) Hoogerdijk, Bill (†Ann) Jongs, Nick (Jane) Jongs, Carel (†Linda) Jongs, Mary (†Simeon) Groeneveld, Margaret (Phil) McDonald and Hennie Jongs. Predeceased by parents Roeland & Antje Vandenbos (VanLeeuwen), and his mother from the age of 4, Jenny Vandenbos (Gelderman) and parents in law Jacob and Hendrikje Jongs.

With much appreciation for services within our community, our family acknowledges the work of the Home and Community Care Support Services, including the VON Palliative team and PSW nursing as well as the Oncology and Surgical teams involved in dad's care.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at CORNERSTONE CANADIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 353 Stone Church Rd. E., Hamilton, where a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. To register your attendance please go to the funeral home website or call 905-689-4852 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. A Graveside Service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens will be held prior to the service at 9 a.m.
