It is with great sadness that the family of Michele Calcagni announces his peaceful passing, at home surrounded by his entire family on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. He will be immensely missed by Ada, his beloved wife and best friend of over 56 years. He was the best father and father-in-law to Carmen and Vince Condo, Frank and Domenica Calcagni, Victor and Shelby Calcagni and loving Nonno to his treasured grandchildren Angelo, Michela, Josephine, Sophia, Ada, Isabella, Laura and Liam. Loving son of the late Francesco and Cristina Calcagni, and son-in- law of the late Carmine and Teresa Chiola. Loving brother of the late Eleutario (late Maria Antonietta) Calcagni, the late Vittoria (late Enrico) Mancinelli and the late Mario (Maria) Calcagni. Beloved brother-in-law of Rosa Mancinelli, the late Gemma Chiola, the late Domenico (Luigina) Chiola, Elisabetta and Vincenzo Brandolini and Anna Di Battista. Michele was loved and will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and also by his many close family and friends.
Mike came over from Italy at the young age of 18. He carved out a wonderful and rewarding life in Canada. He was a proud Gold Standing member of Liuna Local 837. He loved to travel, cook unique cuisine, BBQ, picnic with family, enjoyed all forms of sport, was intrigued by animals, enjoyed good conversation, his pals at Eastgate, tending to his vegetable and flower gardens and most of all he loved his family and especially his grandchildren.
He barked and snarled but he loved above all else. His generosity, sharp wit and love for his family will be missed sorely.
The family would like to extend its deepest appreciation for all the special friends and neighbours and the help they afforded Mike and Ada especially during Mike's weakest moments including Gary, Milan, Primo, Cecilia, Dr. Angelo Frisina and his staff. A special thank you to all the medical personnel who helped Mike throughout his life including Dr. Ralph Profetto, Dr. Major, Dr. Dath, all his PSWs and the incredible nurse Karyn.
