Mitchell DOWN Obituary

Suddenly at his home in Burlington on Thursday, February 3, 2022, Mitch passed away at the age of 22 years. Adored (and favourite!) son of Steve and Tina, best friend and brother of Paetyn. Treasured grandson of Lyn and the late Joe Down, and Earl and the late Margaret Garrity. Cherished nephew of Tracey and Kevin Dreiling and will be remembered by his cousins Brooke, Natalie and Holli. Mitch was an enthusiastic self-taught musician who loved jamming, gaming and socializing with his many friends. He will be missed by his colleagues at Taylor Moving where he was a dedicated and respected employee. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St.N., Waterdown. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 7 p.m. by family invitation only due to the pandemic gathering restrictions. All other friends are invited to participate using the livestream link on the website under Events. Private cremation to follow. I am so sorry for your loss. It was an honour to know Mitchell. He was one of those kids you never forget and talk about often. I enjoyed sharing many moments with Mitchell and always appreciated his sense of humour and his sly smile.

To the Down family, I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful child, brother and cousin.
As teachers we're not supposed to have favourites, but, Mitch was one of mine. I loved his passion and care for others. When Mitch spoke in class everyone listened because they knew his words came from a place of thought and feeling.
He and I had many talks about friendships and navigating the social structure of a school. He taught me a lot, and I will be forever grateful for our relationship.
