Nella Verardo

It is with a mixture of sorrow and joy that we announce the passing of our mom, Nella in her 90th year on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. She is now happily reunited with our dad Benny, the love of her life who passed away in 1996. She was lovingly cherished by her daughter Edda and son-in-law Luigi, and grandchildren Erica (Jamie), Alexandria (Daniel), Francis (Danielle) and great-granddaughter Nevaeh. Never far from her thoughts and prayers were her loved daughter Mary and son Roy and their families. Beloved sister of Valerio Maragno, Lina (Max) Scattolon and sister-in-law to Joe (late Eva) Verardo. Predeceased by siblings and their spouses, Ampelio (Dina), Rino (Elsa), Rina (Bertillo) Beraldo, and sister-in-law Nicolina (Angelo) Pessot. She will be deeply missed by her cousin Anita (late Rodolfo) Pellizzari and many nieces and nephews. She will be joyfully remembered for her amusing Italian family stories, her homemade gnocchi, chicken cutlets, crostoli and fritole. Ma was gentle, kind and caring. Her cat Bella was her most treasured pet. She fed every stray cat that wandered by her back door. Special thanks to Dr. Smith, the nurses and staff at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Ward B for their compassion and dedication. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Sunday, September 18, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 63 Highway 20, Stoney Creek on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to McNally House Hospice or Ladybird Animal Sanctuary would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
