I offer heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Nick´s family. It was my great fortune to be a close friend throughout my working days in Hamilton (1974-1990). I was and always will be grateful for Nick´s candid insights, his selfless generosity, constant sense of humor, genuine care, and inspirational love for his family. There are many things that stem from years of our friendship that I constantly carry with me. Things I learned from Nick, through his example. And his example always served others well. He always advocated for making feelings known, respectfully, truthfully, for the betterment of all. His sense of humor was transformational, because it was always present, on or just below the surface, ready to disarm cynicism and doubt. For several years, knowing that I had a love for cinema, Nick would relentlessly (and of course always successfully) pursue free "I Want It All" passes for the Toronto Film Festival on my behalf. He would offer such things as one offers a drink to household visitors - "hey, would you like these?" Some of his gestures and his encouragements changed my life, and although it´s been a while, his humanity guides me still, and in turn I try and pass it on to others.

Very sad to hear. It was always a pleasure seeing Nick's smiling face in the morning (provided you didn't interrupt his radio call-in!).
My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Nick was a good man who always treated others kindly & with respect. He taught his children well.
He also had a great talent for winning radio station contests. He will be missed.
