Panagiotis Michalopoulos Obituary

Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 25th in his 96th year. He is finally reunited with his soul mate and the love of his life Vasiliki (Vasio). Beloved father of Chris (Olga) and Louis (Elizabeth). Loving grandfather "Pappou" to Peter (Amanda), George (Cheryl) and Vasilios. Cherished great-grandfather "Pappouli" to Brianna, Hayden, Owen and Brody. Dear godfather "Nono" to Eleni (Blanas) Mihailovich and Joanne Papadopoulos. He will be profoundly missed by his sister Vicky (Davilis) and sister-in-law Mary (Michalopoulos), as well as his many nieces and nephews, extended family, koumbaroi and friends. Peter was a long time parishioner and council member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Hamilton. He loved his Church and was a fixture at the candles every Sunday, as well as the head chef in the kitchen downstairs for many, many years. He is also fondly remembered by the staff, as well as the many customers and friends that frequented the Cosy Restaurant for the 38 years that he ran the business, both as a partner with his two brothers and brother-in-law in the earlier years after he arrived in Canada with his family in 1963, and later, as sole owner along with his sons. A special thank you to the staff at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Peter and his family for the 5 weeks he was there, and also a special thank you to the Nurses and PSW's from Bayshore and ParaMed Health (Healing Hearts) that cared for him at his home this last month.
Visitation will be held at Dodsworth and Brown Funeral Home - Burlington Chapel (2241 New Street, Burlington) on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 4 - 8 p.m. with the Trisagion Prayer service at 7 p.m. The Funeral Service/Liturgy will take place on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (22 Head Street, Hamilton) Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery. Immediately afterwards, everyone is invited back to the Church Hall for the traditional Makaria luncheon/reception. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church.

Louis , family & friends I am so sorry for your loss.
Peter was a great man, funny, kind & always had a welcoming smile.
I haven't seen him since he closed the Cosy.
Peter & his wife were more than just owners of a restaurant they treated you like family.
May your memories warm your heart , dry your tears & put a smile on your face & warm your heart.
With love, light hugs & friendship.
