Pantelis SERBINIS Obituary

Peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, Pantelis "Peter" Serbinis at the age of 87 years. Beloved husband of Paraskevi "Voula" Serbinis (nee Hadziathanasiou) for 51 years. Dear father of Michael Serbinis (Laura Adams). Dearest Papou of granddaughters Zoe, Georgia and Scarlett Serbinis. Brother to Vasilis Serbinis, and (deceased) Polixeni (Serbinis) Pappas. Special thanks to all the staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for all their help during his stay there. Peter was born in a mountainside village called Xino Nero in the Macedonian region of Greece. He bravely served in the Greek army before emigrating to Canada in the 1960's. Peter met the love of his life Voula on a visit to Greece, and weeks later, married her on her Canada Day, her birthday. Peter was a proud Canadian, living and working in Hamilton for over 55 years as a labourer, steel worker, and later, an entrepreneur with a thriving business. Peter loved sports, playing backgammon and cards, walking, gardening, swimming, music and always had a story and a smile for his friends. Peter lit up every room with his smile, and made friends everywhere. Most important to Peter was his family. He gave everything for his family, and set an incredible example for his only son, Michael. He will be missed dearly by all. Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Friday, September 3rd from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm and from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 22 Head Street, Hamilton on Saturday, September 4th at 9:30 am with interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton. Dearest Voula, Michael and family, it is with heavy hearts to have learned of Pete’s passing. Please know that we are with you during the loss of your wonderful husband and father. I have shared many fond memories of Pete since the 60’s and honoured to have become his Koumbara, godmother to Michael. He shall be greatly missed by all and will be remembered for his smile which lit up his entire face.
Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences during this most difficult time. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
His memory shall live forever.
Love Freda (Peitchinis), Dave and David-Daniel
