Patricia Foss Obituary
Born in Ottawa and raised in Montreal, London and Hamilton, Patricia's charisma, beauty, and vigor was hard to miss: a talented singer and basketball player with a special connection to animals, she would become a reputable artist whose career spanned four decades.
Her figurative sculptures in stone, bronze, resin and clay have exhibited throughout Canada and the US and grace several private collections. Among her many commissions include those with the Royal Bank of Canada and the University of Florida. When Patricia turned to painting, she developed a trademark style of bold colors and contoured landscapes. These canvasses were the focus of her final show in 2020 at Earl's Court Gallery.
Her artistic career was supported by the man she called her handsome Norwegian - Johan Foss. Married in 1960, they would raise five children and spend four happy, hard-working decades together sharing a love of cocktails, travel and beautiful homes.
To her children, Pat was a berry-picking, Belafonte-playing, owl-spotting, pie-making, prank-loving juggernaut who taught them to laugh at themselves. To her grandchildren, she was a fount of wisdom and fun, who stayed young walking and caring for her beloved dogs (most recently Winnie.) To her extended family and many friends, she was a ray of light.
Pat is predeceased by spouse Johan, daughter Katrine and son Eric, and survived by children, Krista, Nils and Tor; grandchildren Fehn, Gabrielle, Samuel, Sophia, Noel, Esais and Sander; daughters in-law Jackie Placidi, Lenore Lukasik and Denise McLean and sons-in-law Jeff Griffiths and John Martin.
A celebration of life is planned for April 2, 2022, from 2pm to 4pm in the Pavilion of the Art Gallery of Hamilton (123 King St. West).
The family is indebted to the staff of Juravinski's B-3 Surgical Patient Unit for the incredible care she received there. In lieu of flowers please donate to Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton Health Sciences.

Krista Foss and Jeff Griffiths, I did not know your mother/mother in law, but it is always sad to lose a mother, and I just wanted to send my sympathy to you both. She sounds like an amazing person. Our condolences to the entire Foss family. I remember your beautiful Mom and her cocktail parties. They were so classy and always coming home thinking that we were now now more in touch with the arts, nature and society. I was able to enjoy her final art show at the Earl's Court Gallery and her bold, colorful canvass paintings were so creative and always mixed with humor. She will be missed.
