Patricia Sweeney Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother in her 84th year. Much loved mother to Diana (Andy), Brigid (Senan) and Erica (Bruce). Sadly missed by grandchildren Pippa, Millie, Julia, Mossy and Tessa. Survived by her beloved siblings Ann, John and Tim and predeceased by her baby brother, Rory. Pat is remembered fondly by family and friends in Canada and in South Africa and by her former colleagues at the Health Sciences Library, McMaster. Known simply to her family as 'Best Mum'. Cremation has already taken place. Please join us to celebrate Pat's life on Friday, November 25th 5-7pm at the Circle of Life Cremation and Burial Centre, 100 King St. E, Dundas, L9H 1C4. (905) 628-8558. You can also offer your condolences or share a memory by emailing [email protected]. Donations in lieu of flowers to the CNIB.

Pat was a special lady and I am very grateful to have been a part of her care team. It was an honor to care for Pat and see the love she had for her family. She always had a little story about her life to share and loved to teach us about South Africa, things she did as a nurse and music. I am glad to know she is at peace.

I've had the honor of knowing Pat while staying with her and cleaning for her and Dian. Her stories and companion made her a joy to be around. My favorite memory was getting to know her while watching Poldark and sipping wine after our dinner. Pat will be truly missed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll be thinking of all of you. I think of her every time I make Mahogany Stew -- she and Di made one of the best meals I've ever had, and it's become part of our family tradition for special dinners. Lots of love to all who are missing her.
