Peter Banks Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce Peter's passing at the age of 78. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Linda. Beloved father to Peter and Brian. Dear Papa to Maddison, Chloe, Maya and two Grandsons. Predeceased by parents Andy and Dorothy. Peter will be missed by many more family and friends, especially by Shannon and Erica. Peter was a dedicated employee of Dofasco, retiring after 31 years of service. He was also dedicated to hockey, where he was a scout for 40 years and a coach at Eastwood Arena for 20 years. He was also a devout member of St. Stephen on the Mount Church. A special thank you to the LHIN Bayshore for their exceptional care and compassion. As well to Rev. Robert Brownlie, Palliative Care Outreach Team, VON nurses and our neighbours, Michelle and Don Foster for all their help and care. God bless you all. As per Peter's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Pete, you are missed, while digging my dandelions this year I often looked to your grass and could "almost" see you out there as well. Everytime I think of those damn dandelions I will also think of you. You were a great neighbour, Linda and the girls really miss you as do we. Rest in peace Pete.

Our Hockey System has lost a dear friend and our greatest supporter.
Always a kind word never outspoken
In our Hockey meetings Peter would carefully listen to both positions. Just before resolution we would hear his wisdom and move the motion. Afterwards he would say, what I can do to make this work and make it work he did.
Peter was a roll model for all who struggled to make our program better. His legacy will survive us all.
Rest in peace our friend...until we meet again

Ken and I have known Peter for about 15 years, after our daughter joined the Banks family. He was a wonderful person, always smiling, and quick to tell a good joke. He was a loving and engaged Papa to his grandchildren, taking them on trips to Cuba, etc. Words cannot express how sad we are to have lost such a wonderful friend. Our hearts go out to Linda, Brian, Pete Jr., Maya and the rest of the Banks family.

We knew Pete from Eastwood Arena. He was great with the kids and a great coach, had a great sense of humour e.g.. I remember the time he faked an injury on the ice, had them carry him off on a stretcher, while at the center of the ice he dropped a fake leg onto the ice. Everyone had a great laugh. Sorry to you Linda, family and friends for your loss.
