Peter Loveless Obituary

Dr. Peter Alan Loveless died peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Idlewyld Manor in Hamilton, on March 7, 2022, in his 84th year.

Predeceased by his beloved parents Edward and Noreen Loveless, and his lovely daughter Diana, Peter will be forever in the hearts of his wife Lenore; their children Ian, David, Michael, and Adrienne; their beloved grandchildren Christine, Sarah, James, and Lauren; sons-in-law John Cowling and David Ziemer; daughters-in-law Erin Riggin and Rozita Roshan; his sister Wendy Wakeham; and his dear extended family in Australia. He will also be missed by many friends and colleagues.

Born in British Hong Kong in 1938 and raised in Bondi Beach, Australia, Peter graduated from The University of Sydney Medical School in 1963. It was during his residency at Fairfield Hospital in Sydney, Australia, that he met his future wife Lenore and they began their 58-year journey together. In 1967, Peter and Lenore left Australia with their two young children, and after a short stint in London, England, settled in the Hamilton area.

Peter was a traditional family physician, delivering hundreds of babies, performing thousands of circumcisions, vasectomies & minor surgical procedures, and making house calls and hospital visits in addition to his busy family practice. He even arranged private transportation for his patients to and from the office during an HSR bus strike. He was very dedicated and cared deeply for his patients, maintaining practices in Hamilton and Hagersville, and retiring in 2012 after 50 years in practice.

Those closest to him will remember his favourite pastimes: watching his tennis idol Roger Federer, long time viewer and supporter of PBS, extensive travel in their Pace Arrow RV, and timesharing in Pompano Beach, Florida. He was a long-time squash member of The Hamilton Thistle Club, where he won several individual and team titles, served as club president, and ran the annual Thistle Invitational for many years. He loved The Beatles, jazz, especially big band, and, of course, his musical idol, Billie Holiday.

Our family would like to thank the compassionate, hardworking team at Idlewyld Manor for their wonderful care and support.

Family will receive friends at DODSWORTH & BROWN FUNERAL HOME - ANCASTER CHAPEL (378 Wilson Street East, 905-648-3852) on Monday, March 14th from 6pm-8pm. A funeral service in the chapel will be held on Tuesday, March 15th at 2pm. Interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Peter's memory to Idlewyld Manor/Thrive Group

Thanks for taking care of us. We love you and we'll miss you. "Call me, Papa."

I was one of Dr. Loveless's patients for many years and he took very good care of me. I was sorry when he retired but it was nice that he had someone, who I also really like, to take over for him. It was always nice to talk to Lenore when she was in the office and I remember Adrienne being there too. You have all lost someone special and I am sending my condolences to all of his family. I used to see Dr. Loveless and his lovely wife on my way to work every morning . I am glad that I can still see Terry, who also worked in the office, whenever I go to my Dr. now. My thoughts are with all of you. Rest in peace Dr. Loveless.

Our sincere condolences to Lenore and family. Such a very sad loss. Peter was our friend and Doctor for many years. He delivered our son and saved our son´s life after a near drowning. We have life long gratitude to him and so sorry he´s no longer in this world with us. A wonderful man. May he Rest In Peace and his memory give his family comfort.

There are no words to express how sad Nancy and I are to hear of Peter's passing.
We wish to offer our deepest condolences to the entire Loveless family.
I cherished the Squires friendship as a friend as well as a patient. We spent many good times with Peter and Lenore, times that we will never forget.

From the folks at Grant Avenue Studio, we are so saddened to hear about the passing of Doctor Loveless. We were just speaking of him last week. He was an excellent Doctor and we enjoyed being close to him and his staff here on Grant Avenue over the years. Our thoughts are with his friends, family and former staff at this time.

To the Loveless family .... I was a patient of Dr. Loveless back in the 70's in Hagersville. He delivered my premature son in 1974 and gave him such special care to ensure his survival. I will always appreciate the strength and compassion he displayed to us during this difficult time.

Over the last few days, I´m awed to read the many tributes to you. I was so honoured to work for you for almost 20 years and always proud to call you my Dad. You gave me such a strong work ethic and know that your life made an impact on me even as you took your last breath. Dad, I love you and I am really going to miss you xo

I was a patient of Dr. Loveless, coming to him after Drs. Lockhart and Guyatt. What a terrific guy. Whenever I drive by King and Grant, I think of them.
