Pietra Bernoldi

Peacefully entered the embrace of our loving God on Monday, November 15, 2021, in her 78th year. We know that life will never be the same as before but feel so blessed to have been part of her family and her life. She leaves behind her loving husband and best friend Romano. They met in Palermo, Italy in 1960 and have been inseparable since. They immigrated to Canada with their three children in 1972 where they built a happy life together. She will be so dearly missed by her children, Carla (Emidio) Piccioni, Cosimo (Lina) Bernoldi and Mario (Silvia Maria) Bernoldi. She taught her children lessons of love, determination, and courage until her final days. She had immense love for her grandchildren who she called her jewels. Nonna will be so sadly missed but joyfully remembered by Julia (Connor), Victoria (Joshua), Nicolas, Emma, Christian, Lara, Mario Jr. and her great-granddaughter Eloise. She will also be greatly missed by her much loved niece Carla Patenaude. Piera was the youngest of five sisters and we know she is now so happy to be reunited with them in heaven. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Italy who adored their Zia Piera. Piera enjoyed many warm relationships with friends, whom she loved playing cards with. She was a wonderful cook and expressed her love by preparing delicious meals and welcoming all to her home. We can only hope to continue the lessons of hospitality and generosity that she taught us. The family wishes to thank Dr. James Leong for his compassion and care for the past 30 years. Thanks also to the many health care workers who took care of mom the last few years. A special thanks to Dr. Christine Ribic, Nephrology Specialist at St. Joseph Hospital. Her care provided us with so much comfort. We love you forever, Piera, our wife, mother, nonna and bisnonna. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Ave. Dr. in Stoney Creek on Thursday November 18th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Friday November 19th at 1:30 p.m. If you wish to attend, masks are mandatory and due to limited space availability, registration must be completed on the funeral home website or by calling 905-662-2948.
