Ralph SUTTELL Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ralph Suttell on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Predeceased by the love of his life Elizabeth (nee Merritt, 2020) of 63 years, his parents Louis and Jessie Suttell, brothers Alton (Marion), Floyd (Esther), Nelson (Norma), Donald (Hazel), Ross (Joan) and Paul. Best Dad and friend to Lee Suttell (Carol) and Lynn Main. Grandchildren Devon (Tanya), Sarah, Brad (Carolyn), Kelly (Caleb) and Jillian were his pride and joy. Ralph recently welcomed a great granddaughter Rylynn and was looking forward to a great grandson due March 2023. Ralph competed at many national and local dahlia shows representing his hobby well. As a senior dahlia judge he took pride in hybridizing many quality dahlias. Volunteering was his passion leaving each in better standing than when starting. Included but not limited to Scouting, Hamilton Dahlia Society, The American Dahlia Society, The Midwest Dahlia conference, Lincoln Millennium Forest, Ontario Horticultural Assoc and one of the founding members of the Lincoln Garden Club. We will miss Ralph's infectious smile with all our hearts. Thank you to everyone who touched our dad's life.
Celebration of life for Ralph and Elizabeth will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the United Church, 116 West Street (Reg Rd 20), Smithville. A private graveside service will take place prior. If desired, memorial donations to Lincoln Garden Club or West Lincoln Memorial Auxiliary would be appreciated by the family. merritt-fh.com

What a wonderful couple they were!
I first met them at Aunt Millie Suttell“s 80th birthday party in Strykersville, NY where Elizabeth "traded " T shirts with one of the male cousins!!
We also have wonderful memories of them at "Wine Fest" at The Creek on one of their visits across the border.
We visited several times and got to tour their beautiful gardens!!
A trip to the " Chicken Festival" with them both was a highlight of one summer as we traveled across to see them!!
They certainly were a wonderful couple, so happy to have called them Family!!

Ralph and Elizabeth reconnected with our family here in Java, New York us a few years ago and came and partied with us quite a few times. They were wonderful people, so much fun, and we were always so happy to see them. We were lucky to be invited to their 50th wedding anniversary party and it was one we'll never forget. We're sorry to confess that we drank most of the beer that day! You have our deepest sympathy...

Lynn, Lee and Carol: I was saddened to learn about the passing of your Dad. Both Ralph and Elizabeth meant a great deal to me, and I will always treasurer their friendship. I learnt so much from your parents but the most impactful was how much they loved each other and their family. I will miss your parents deeply but am thankful for having had them in my life.

Ralph was a very fine dahlia exhibitor. One of the best. I always enjoyed seeing him and Elizabeth at all the big dahlia shows. Many fond memories. He will be missed. We are all very sorry to lose him.
