Raymond Braun Obituary

May 13, 1930 - June 8, 2022
Raymond would have said, "My soul has travelled through space to find a new place." Raymond leaves behind his loving family - his wife Heather, her six children Ian, Keith, Jan, Bryan, Andy and Steve, their spouses, sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and the family of his late beloved sister, Blanche. Born in Toronto, Raymond grew up in Austria and Germany, returning to Canada in 1950 as a young man. His wartime childhood fostered a strong belief in PEACE and he loved to sing "Dona Nobis Pacem." Raymond worked 40 plus years at Stelco in the 10-9 Mill and the Metallurgical Department. He loved hiking, swimming, travelling, singing, trains and his dogs. He and Heather literally travelled the world until we were all hit by COVID. Raymond made friends wherever he went including a lifelong friendship with Wayne and others. He was active in various organizations including St. Paul's United Church, the Continental Austrian Club and the Canadian Orpheus Male Choir. Although Raymond passed away with a rapid growing cancer, until the end he continued to say he had "No Regrets." He will be sorely missed! A Celebration of Raymond's Life will be held at Circle of Life Cremation and Burial Centre, 100 King St East, Dundas, Ontario L9H 1C4, on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 1:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. (additional parking at the Air Force Club). In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be left at www.circleoflifecbc.com

My condolences to the family. I always enjoyed chatting with Raymond, who was quick to tell me about his Austrian and not German heritage, LOL. He was engaged in the world and its issues, and a regular letter writer who appeared on the pages of The Hamilton Spectator.....His contributions of music at church were always welcome and enjoyed and we shall miss him.

Sincere condolences to Heather and family, may the fond memories you have of Raymond be a source of comfort and strength at this sad time. I remember him singing "Dona Nobis Pacem" in about six languages, also remember him and his dog sitting on the grass verge outside Tim Horton's!
