Reginald Bullock Obituary

Reginald Albert Bullock passed away in his 94th year, on August 25, 2022. Predeceased by his wonderful wife of 67 years, Margaret (Torrance), son Mike (Mary Ellen). Survived by his children Gaye (Tom - deceased), Leslie (Mike), Greg, and Murray (Carolyn). Grandchildren Kyle (Lori), Jason (Bonnie), Spencer (Breann), Mitchell, Mallory, Natasha (Zack), and Curtis. Great-grandchildren Nathan, Makala and Jacob. As well as many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Reg met the love of his life, Margaret Torrance, in 1948 and they were married June 30, 1951. They settled into a house that was built on part of the farm which was sold shortly after they were married. Reg was born on February 6, 1929 to a market gardening family in Aldershot across from East Plains United church. He and his five siblings were close in age and grew up to stay close over the years. He and his brother Henry took over the family business and changed the fruit market over to a garden centre adding more greenhouses. In time, with the new large corporate garden centres opening and with no room to expand, they sold the property. The family, for many years, operated a stand on the Hamilton Central market and the Centre Mall market. Reg and his brother Henry stopped attending those markets at the end of 1981. In 1982, Reg obtained his real estate licence and enjoyed a successful twenty-year career as a realtor retiring when was 72. Reg felt that if you joined an organization that you should become involved. He is a life member of the Aldershot Lions club having served in nearly all positions over the years. He was a tour guide at the Canadian Warplane Museum for 25 years, loving all the old aircraft. In 2002, he was named Burlington's Citizen of the year and received the Queen's Jubilee Medal for his years of community service. As a member of the Aldershot community council, he ran a yearly Historic bus tour of Aldershot, and Reg was the commentator during the tours. He enjoyed this as he could remember all the farms that were long gone. Reg loved his gardens and won several Rose Awards from the City of Burlington. In 2017, both Marg and Reg were jointly given the honour of being named to the Aldershot Community Honor roll. Marg and Reg loved swimming and had a back yard pool for many years. One fall Marg suggested that they take up scuba diving. They both obtained their scuba licences and enjoyed many years of diving in both the Caribbean and Georgian Bay. Starting in 1976 with a trip to Hawaii, they travelled every year after, starting with a trailer travelling Canada coast to coast. They travelled the UK, the US and Europe, and took several cruises. The family would like to thank all the medical staff at Joseph Brant Hospital who cared for dad. With special thanks to Dr. Mills, Amanda Wong and Nurse Kim. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to The Aldershot Lions Club or The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Life will take place at East Plains United Church on September 10th at 2 p.m. Reception to follow in Peart Hall.

So sorry to hear that Reg and Hank have now passed away. The Bullock bros and Buttrum“s were on the Hamilton market together for years. Bullocks were always known for their wonderful produce. I knew both brothers when they were raising quarter horses and when Reg was chairman of the huge Quarterama horse show in Toronto. Whatever Reg did, he did it very well, with kindness and a smile on his face. Sincere condolences to all their family. Rest In Peace. Judy (Buttrum) Trotman

My Condolences to the Bullock Family.
Reg, Hank and all the Bullocks were so close to my own family while growing up in Aldershot. Reg was very proud of his family, his heritage and his community. We shared many great memories and a long friendship, I will cherish.

I met Reg through his daughter Gaye at a terrier trial. He always had the biggest smile for everyone and made me the best homegrown tomato sandwich I've ever tasted. Rest in Peace Reg.

Condolences to the Bullock family. Art and I met Reg and Marg through the East Plains Couples Club when we first moved to Aldershot. They made certain that everyone enjoyed themselves and we had so many good times together. They were a special couple and definitely community leaders. I'm sorry that I will be unable to attend Reg's memorial. May he rest in peace.

My condolences to the Bullock family. Reg was a great person and whether working at the market or garden centre or farm he provided us with a strong work ethic, and a lot of laughs. He was a community leader, a great boss, neighbour and friend. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten.
