Robert BLATZ Obituary

BLATZ, Robert Adam Robert, 95 years old, died Thursday, April 25, 2019 at St. Joseph's Villa in Hamilton. He leaves his five children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and many close friends. Born and raised in Hamilton, the son of Adam and Alice he was a resident of Hamilton area for all but the five years spent in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While attending McMaster University, he met his wife, Hazel Wilkinson and they were married in 1946. He then graduated in 1947. He started his first major job as a chemist at Swift Canada, Toronto and followed his passion as a musician performing with the RCAF, Mount Hope, with the house band at the Brant Inn Burlington and with the Tiger Cat Marching Band. On his return from Winnipeg he played with the Burlington Concert Band and the Dundas Concert Band until December 2017. Bob's second passion was athletics, especially for figure skating where he was an official for 50 years. All are welcome to join the family in a celebration of Bob's life at the Mount Carmel United church in Troy, ON, on Saturday, June 22nd at 2:00 p.m.
