Robert MILLAR Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Robert Millar announce his sudden passing on Sunday, April 9, 2023 at the age of 46. Rob, most often referred to as "Millar" by his wife Mary (nee Hepburn) of 17 years and children Ewan and Bree who were his everything, will be so greatly missed. Loving son of Barry and Ann Millar. Dear brother of Helen Millar-Pollock (Alan) and Alex Millar (Lauri). Son-in-law of Robert and Joanne Hepburn. Brother-in-law of Jonathan Hepburn (Barb) and David Hepburn. Uncle of Aidan, Chloe, Bella, Rhyan, Sam and Georgia.

Rob was born in Hamilton, Ontario and grew up in Grimsby, where he later settled with his own family. A graduate of Mohawk College he was an accomplished Red Seal Carpenter and worked out in Northern Alberta for a number of years, and was also a member of the Local 18 Carpenters Union in Hamilton. Most recently, Rob was completing his Masters of Education in Construction Technology through Brock University. It was a dream of his to "coast into retirement" by becoming a shop teacher and passing along his skills and knowledge he learned along the way to future generations. He enjoyed playing rugby and soccer in his younger years and was a member of the Grimsby Gentlemen Rugby Football Club. He loved to travel with Mary and their children, and was always dreaming up the next goal to achieve together.

Anyone who knew Rob, knew he could light up a room with his humour and wit. He was unapologetically himself and fiercely loyal to those he loved. He lived for his family and always held firm on his beliefs and what he felt was right. He made such an impact on so many and will also be missed by many family and friends across Canada and overseas.

A special thank you to Niagara Paramedics and the WLMH ER Doctors, who did everything they could. Special mention to Dr. Shannon Smith for her care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. Rob wanted a party - a Celebration of Life will take place at The Powerhouse, 21 Jones St., Stoney Creek, Friday May 12th 4:30-7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to an education fund for Rob's children by e-transferring [email protected]

I was in Rob´s law group at Brock. Rob was a pleasure to work with and myself and other group members truly became friends supporting each other with our project and beyond. I enjoyed his humour and candidness as well as connecting on our passion to make a positive influence on teenagers as teachers. He truly inspired me and his peers in the short time we all had with him. I am saddened to hear about Rob´s passing and my condolences go out to Rob and his family.
