Andy will be sadly missed by all.

Andy was in my class at the University of Toronto where we were both studying for our Ph.D.s in economics when I came up to Canada in 1968 as a draft dodger. He became my close friend at the university. After he married Janis, our families became very close. Andy introduced us to the joys of Canadian cottage life at Janis's family cottage on Lake Catchacoma where he made us eat chewy Red River cereal every day. He also taught us how to canoe and to appreciate the shock of jumping from their sauna on a dock into the dark ice-cold waters of the lake. Wearing a red and black lumberjack shirt, he also serenaded us all many nights by the campfire with his favorite Canadian folk songs. This is how I'll remember Andy best even though we spent a year together in our office collaborating professionally on several projects and I have the greatest respect for him as an economist and computer whiz trained at IBM before we all got PCs. Andy was a unique and quintessentially Canadian individual who was my lifetime friend. I'll miss him very much. Our condolences to Janis and the family.

I knew Andy Muller as the father of Krista, a close childhood friend. I always felt welcome at their house, and recall how he genuinely seemed to like spending time with us kids. I was often intimidated by the fathers of my friends, but Andy was so kind and laid-back. I remember him taking us tobogganing, and spending the day with us at Wild Waterworks. My parents and I are so, so sorry to hear of his passing; he was a very special person. Our thoughts are with his family at this time. May he rest in peace.
